Most Lyme docs do not take insurance because of the politics surrounding this horrible disease and its complex treatment.
Yes, the Lyme doctors do write prescriptions which are covered by insurance even thought they themselves do not accept insurance.
Each doctor determines if he/she will do phone call follow-ups. I don't know if any or many do. I think the doctor must see you physically every couple of months or so in order for insurance to consider you a patient.

I think you have to fly out of state for one. Do it. It's worth it to find one who is ILADS trained (cutting edge).
