My mother in law in Richmond has lyme and we have been in contact with a LLMD in DC about treating her. My mother in law is pretty sick and will more than likely need IV treatment. She is on medicare.
In order for a Medicare patient to be treated with IV meds, Medicare requires that they be infused in an infusion center (rather than at home) and that the order come from a local doctor with privileges at the local hospital.
The only way the LLMD can treat out of state Medicare patients with IV is if they find a local doctor willing to actually write the order.
Does anyone know of any Richmond doctors that might work with the DC LLMD?
Or if you have any other suggestions, they would be most welcome.

Has she asked her GP? My mom's neuro was 45 min from her home and hospital, her local GP agreed to sign off on the IV infusion at the local hospital.
Just be sure to check with the diagnosing physician for "retesting" before they remove the PICC. This was our mistake.

My motherinlaw is very far gone mentally. She is unable to ask her GP anything. It is up to my husband's brother or whoever takes her to the doctor. We have been unable to get that question asked. It is so frustrating.
