Hi ,
I am looking for a doctor who has advanced knowledge with severe gut/digestive issues. I live in TN but am willing to travel. I am looking for someone who is willing to really dig deep and investigate..

My diet:
Low carb Paleo, no fruit or other sugar, avoid nuts and seeds but occasionally fall off wagon, no dairy except butter or ghee, no soy.

I have tried zero carb, low FODMAPs, GAPS, low oxolate, antiparasitics ( herbal and medication), fasting, antifungals, probiotics, antibacterials, and more.

Have you read the article "Bells Palsy of the Gut". Researching this doctor that wrote it, I'm drawing blank at the moment, maybe she could recommend someone in TN for you.

I need to go find her site and post it here for you.

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_research/lyme_publications14.html

Maybe ILADS has contact of doctor near you. It doesn't have to be a LLMD, just a gastro that gets what Lyme & co does to the GI track.

Virginia Sherr is the doctor who wrote "Bells Palsy of the Gut" based on her personal experience with it. Dr. Sherr is a psychiatrist who had lyme disease. She is now retired. When she was practicing, she lived in Pennsylvania.

TF, thank you for that info.

2doggies, I would contact the ILADS and ask for gastro in TN that's lyme aware. How hard should this be? doggie, I'm not speaking of you dear.

I mean to have a doctor aware of GI issues caused by vector borne illnesses. That is not too much to expect and ask for.

2doggie, I will check out my LLMD list and just see if there is possibility in TN. Do you have a LLMD?

@map1131 - I have read that article and it totally resonates with me. Just not sure what to do about it because finding someone who is really knowledgeable is not that easy. I agree - it shouldn't be that hard. There is a local LLMD but he uses abx to treat Lyme which I was hoping to avoid and his recommendation for my gut was Diflucan and a supplement called Seacure. That was disappointing considering all the things I had already tried at that point, including Diflucan and other antifungals.

@Lymetoo - I have been making my own sauerkraut, beet kvass, and more for years. Have tried fermented coconut water, Kombucha, water kefir, etc. Now I stick to just fermented veggies and eat them daily with my meals.

@Keebler - I will check out those links. Thank you.

@map1131 - I forgot. I was not seeing the local LLMD but have been in treatment with Dr. K in Seattle for 2 years now.

Well, if you have Dr K, which I'm jealous. When I win the lottery that's where I'm going.

Has your body agreed it wants to go with the gut issues yet? Sometimes the body knows what order to go about treatment? And that's why you've not found help?

Or is Dr K suggestions not working? How often are you seeing him from TN to that western state? Much can happen and change in just a month and without someone to guide you it could be very rough.

I feel the gut issues are of importance. Unfortunately continuing to see Dr. K is not an option anymore as I have run out of money (that I did not have to begin with). I was going to see him every 3 to 4 months and doing phone consults with one of his NDs in between.
