vivi, I've looked at the names I have and I don't see the type doctor you are looking for.

If you will look on top left of this page in the orange/green box, click on support groups. There are several listed in IL. Start making calls or email to the founders of these support groups.

Someone in your state I promise you will have a name of someone to help you? Are you seeing a LLMD in IL or someone out of state?

My other thought is someone on here from IL and there are many, will see this and private message you a name of someone to help you.

Don't give up. You'll find someone soon. My therapist was recommended by my PCP. She was not lyme literate when I started seeing her. She is today. She was just a social worker with lots of schooling and training.

But the unique thing about her, she only see patients with chronic illnesses. So she was capable of listening to me and helping me do some problem solving on issues that effect my health.

I seen her sometimes as much as once a week, when I was in crisis mode. But usually it was every 3 weeks. I have Humana primary insurance and Medicare secondary. She filed both insurance and I paid minimal dollars, next to zero out of pocket over the split up 4 yr period I seen her.

Mental health needs to be pre-authorized. They usually in the beginning authorize only so many visits. Then once the dx is filed, more often and more visits can be authorized.

I hope this helps. Hey IL folks, I hope you have some good names in Chicago.

Pam

Welcome to Lymenet! I don't know of any in Chicago or surrounding suburbs.

I would recommend you call the two LLMDs (Lyme-literate doctors) in IL and ask if they know someone.

PM sent with their contact info.

Also check with the online state Lyme Support Groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/IllinoisLyme/info

Maybe they can help you.

Are you under the care of a LLMD? Lyme disease can cause many problems, including psychiatric ones.

Read www.thehumansideoflyme.net which was written by a now-retired LL Psychiatrist.

The top Lyme-literate doctor, Dr. H, just wrote a new book entitled "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
