If anyone could PM me on here if they know of a Lyme literate doc in Minnesota, I am in Duluth and could use one. I can travel to the twin cities or anywhere in northern WI too.

I am an adult and this referral is for me. I haven't even been able to get tested and I have been to so many doctors...the soonest appointment I could get was mid-August, and I am nearly certain whoever that doc is will tell me I don't need to be tested too.

I developed sudden severe arthritis in both knees last fall. That has significantly impacted my life.Other issues are daily headaches, muscle weakness and shooting muscle pain, balance issues, muscle twitches, etc.

I have had lots of tick bites over the years, but developed an infected bite and rash from a DOG tick last summer, and have read that it's not just deer ticks that can carry lyme- what do others think? If you're reading this and have an opinion, feel free to message me.

I am new to all of this.
Thank you!

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for WI & MN.

Not all ticks carry Lyme disease. Any biting insects can also transmit it.

We never saw any ticks on my son, but he had a number of mosquito bites on his thigh where there was an oval red rash (which I later found out was a form of the classic "bull's-eye rash" and indicative of Lyme).

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease and its complex treatment!

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in earlier by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Maybe they can help.

Dr. H, the top LLMD, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check the local library or buy it used on Amazon.
