Our little boy just turned three. Tick bite behind ear that became red, swollen, and fever. Took him to MD, sent to ER. Cellulitis diagnosed.
Rocephin injections and Augmentin. Day after Augmentin ended, fever started again. His leg hurts.

Back to ER. Waiting for tick borne illness lab results. 104.3 temperature and rash now. Started Doxycycline.

Family Dr., pediatrician, and ER can't figure it out. We are sure he has RMSF and need a doctor who can help us asap. Thank you.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for MO (I don't know of any in OK).

Your dear little boy needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately! You need to go where they are!

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/oklahomalyme

Maybe they can help you.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups):
www.lyme-aware.org/oklahoma.html

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
