Hi there!

I'm housebound with severe sensroy issues and can't barely move.

Does anyone know of a LLMDs that consults over the phone?

And possibly in addition, one that is an ENT.

I have a LLMD who is a nurse who treats me over the phone but I need more help.

Love and prayers to you all.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent with some suggestions.

I don't know of any in TX who will do phone consults. Usually, doctors require you to be physically seen before they will do phone calls. You will have to ask when you call.

I recommend you add "in TX' in your title so people will know specifically where you are looking and more will respond. Click on the pencil/paper icon, make your change, then click on "Edit post".

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment! They are far and few between, unfortunately.

Most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/15615?#000005

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/texaslyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

I have been under the impression that a doctor can get in big trouble if he/she prescribes medication for a patient they have never physically seen and examined.

That is how they got Dr. J. (pediatric lyme specialist) a few years back.

And, all of the doctors I know (not talking about lyme specialists) require you to have been seen within so many months before they will call in a prescription for you.

My internist requires that he has seen me for that particular issue within the last few months before he will call in a prescription.

So, I think that how all of the doctors are behaving gives you a clue as to what the rules are.

All of the lyme docs I know require an in-person visit before they will do telephone appointments.
