Looking for a LLMD in the central VA area (Richmond). Got bit a couple of weeks ago and I'm worried about the red, warm 3 inch diameter rash around the bite. I need a knowledgeable doc to give me some answers.
Thank you very much.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

I sent you the name of a good lyme doctor who can see you quickly.
Try to get on meds for this rash immediately. That is very important.
Lyme tests will not show positive until at least 6 weeks after the bite. That is how long it takes for your body to make the antibodies that the test is looking for.
So, you need to get on top of this very, very quickly. Don't go by any test results. Get treatment; do whatever it takes. This is no disease to mess with.
The longer you have lyme, the harder it is to get rid of.
Let us know if we can help you further. We will help you however we can.
