Looking for LLMD in SE or just S Florida. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Martin County would be preferred. Familiar with a Dr. P and looking for other options. Can you provide me with any resources/referrals?

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are. There was one in Tampa, but he retired.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

In my opinion, Florida no longer has any good lyme doctors. The one fairly good one in Tampa retired about 2 years ago.
There is another S Florida lyme doc that I strongly recommend you stay away from completely.
I recommend that folks in Florida travel to the D.C. area to get good lyme treatment. If you are willing to do so, let me know.
The doc I recommend can see you quickly. He will do telephone or Skype appointments monthly so you only have to travel to the D.C. area once every 3 months.
With lyme disease, the doc is the key to getting well. Can't emphasize that enough. Many doctors treat lyme but very few have ever cured anyone.
Find a doctor who has cured at least one person that you know of for sure. If they have cured 3, that is even better.
Let me know if you want the name of the doc I recommend.
See Support Groups on the left side of the page. Contact all in your state and see if they know of anyone good in Florida. Find out where they go to get good care and if they know of any doc who is curing folks.
The more you research, the better your chance of not wasting time and money on a doctor who doesn't know enough to get you well.
With this disease, there is no substitute for an educated patient. So, read and study the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines found here:
Read the few pages about the coinfections and become familiar with them. Read the list of supplements that most lyme patients need. Begin taking the ones appropriate for your symptoms.
Here are a few points from Dr. B's guidelines:
You must attack both the regular and cyst (or other) form of lyme simultaneously--requires at least 2 different antibiotics taken together to do so.
You must test the patient for all co-infections and other physical ailments (thyroid, etc.) and treat everything the person has.
You must treat all co-infections the patient has(including babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichia, mycoplasma, etc.) or the patient will not get well.
You must use Igenex for most of these tests--they are a tick-borne disease speciality lab in Calif.
You must use very high doses of antibiotics to kill the diseases (batericidal doses).
You must give the patient supplements, probiotics, herbs such as artimesinin if babesiosis is suspected, and require adherence to rules such as low carb diet, no alcohol, no smoking, no steroids, rest, and exercise (1 continuous hour of weightlifting every OTHER day) as the patient is able to do it.
You must treat at least 2 months after all symptoms have disappeared (if sick at least 1 year).
These are just a few of the important points you will see in the guidelines. If possible, you want a doc who does EVERYTHING Burrascano says to do. He treated lyme for over 25 years, and compiled what he learned so that other docs could benefit from it. He was the most successful lyme doctor on the planet. They came from every country in the world to be treated by him.
Welcome to LymeNet! We will help you here all we can.
Others will come along with their recommendations.
