sorry if I miss something, brand new here. I am in Vero Beach, FL and although I know of two recent cases here, having trouble getting taken seriously and am certain I have the disease.
I have missed a month of work already, get worse every day and just desperate to find help. Normally healthy, active and athletic. symtpoms are crippling me and near intolerable and have had no treatment. keep checking and they say no test results yet, but I hear they are wrong half the time.
(breaking up the paragraph for easier reading for many here)
I recommend you write "in FL" in the title of your post so people will know specifically where you are looking. Also, please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post".
You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are. There was a good one in Tampa, but he retired.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

Are you willing to travel? There is no lyme specialist that I recommend in Florida anymore. They had one who was pretty good, but he retired a few years ago.
If you are willing to travel to the Washington D.C. area once every 3 months, I can give you the name of a good doc who can see you quickly. This is rare as good lyme specialists usually are not taking new patients or the wait to see them is 3 to 6 months or longer.
Let me know if you want the name.
