I'm reading all I can to become informed. Never did I know this was such an illusive "condition". I do keep reading that I should locate an LLMD. I live in Roanoke, Virginia. Anyone know if I have any options? Thank you.

If you are willing to travel to the Washington, D.C. area, there are some very good lyme doctors there.
The one I recommend only requires you to come in person once every 3 months. He will do telephone or skype appointments the other months. So, you won't be traveling that much.
You call in between appointments if there are any problems.
Once you go south of D.C., there are few to no good lyme doctors. So, travel is the name of the game.
Let me know if you want this doctor's name. There is virtually no wait to get in with him, which is rare for a good lyme doctor.
People from Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Ontario, upstate New York, Ohio, etc. are traveling to see him. He is very good.
To get your education on this disease, I strongly suggest you read and study the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines found here:
It is not an easy read because it was written to doctors to teach them about this complex disease. But, once you study it, you will know what good lyme treatment looks like, and you will understand a lot more of what the lyme doctor is talking about.
Welcome to LymeNet! We will help you here all we can.
p.s. Those who are willing to help others find lyme doctors like to look at the subject of a post to see if they can help. So, for that reason, I suggest you add "looking for doc in Va. or surrounding area" or something like that in the subject line of your post.
People pass by posts that don't say what state they are interested in.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
