I am a 67 year old woman who has had Lyme disease for 22 years. I've seen many practitioners, tried many things, but am still sick. Haven't given up hope yet, though.
I'd like to find an LLMD near me if possible, hopefully somewhere near the VT/NH border, roughly midstate.
Also, I have an acquaintance, also an older woman, who lives near me and was diagnosed with Lyme a year or so ago. Regular MD's have been useless. She is unwilling to travel very far, so it would be great if we can find someone nearby.
Thank you!

I sent you some names. However, they are not in Vermont or New Hampshire.
You can also try contacting the lyme support groups near you or in nearby states. See Support Groups on the left side of the page. They may be able to tell you if there is anyone good in your area.
Usually, if a doc is getting people well, they become well known. I don't know if you will have such a doc near you or not. With lyme, you MUST be willing to travel to get good care.
Many lyme docs will do monthly telephone visits with their patients after the first in-person visit, so ask about that when you call each doctor. It can save you a lot of travel.
With this disease, you generally have to find a doctor whose practice is exclusively lyme disease or nearly so. That is how a doc develops expertise with this complex illness. The docs I sent you both specialize in lyme disease.
As you will find out, these docs will be nothing like the regular practitioners who are out there. They are specialists in the disease that you have.

You and your friend need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Read the books written by Dr. H, the top LLMD, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.
Also "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
