My son appears to have contracted Lyme in late Dec 2016. Had 2 day flu like illness and rash about 5-6 weeks from exposure. Need the name of an effective llmd in boston area asap! Thank you!!

How old is your son? We need to know, because some Lyme doctors only treat adults, others just children, while others treat both.

You didn't clarify if your son is a child, teenager or adult.

Nevertheless, your son needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. He needs to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

To find a Lyme treating professional in any state please go to...

You will see a menu on the left that has "DOCTOR REFERRALS". That will take you to a site that has listings for your state and others.

There is also a "Help For You" Link on the menu. It has some cost reducing tips for tests, medications, insurance issues and other things.
