I am new here. One of your members replied to my thread on Braintalk and probably saved my life. They have not told me that I am Lyme positive yet but I have tracked my symtoms right downd to hospitalization for pneumonia like symptems and coensidentally one of our dogs was diognosed with Ehrlichiosis 2 months later. That was 7 years ago. I am 32 years old and suffered a stroke last November. I am having servere neurologic problems along with gastric, sinus and skin disorder. Arthritis as well. Visual disturbances and ear problems. I am very thankful that someone conviced me to look into Lyme disease or I would have never made these connections. I am a little scared because I here you get sick or a little worse when the treatment starts. My Dr is starting lighter antibiotics on me because my neurologic problems are so pronounced at this point he fears what will happen if the bacteria is aggrivated too much. I guess that is what he meant. Well I guess I have found a new home over here at Lymenet. I look forward to chatting with you all. I know that I will need all the support I can get. Thanks Cindy

Hi Cindy, Welcome to LymeNet. So sorry you're having so many things to deal with.
Are you seeing Dr J, north of Charlotte? (We don't identify drs here unless they've given permission. We just use initials.)
Everyone reacts a little differently on treatment, so there's no way of knowing for sure how you'll feel.
When you feel worse on treatment, that's a Herxheimer Reaction (herx - for short). The antibiotic kills the bacteria, they give off a toxin, the body detects the toxen & reacts to it. Usually, it means the symptoms get worse or new ones may appear. It's a good sign though, because it means the antibiotic is working.
You'll probably have lots of questions. Feel free to ask as many as you need to ask. Usuually someone has the answer, or if not, someone will probably know where to look.
There are a couple doctors & nurses here, but the majority of us are typical Lyme patients sharing what we've had to learn thru experience.
Again, welcome to LymeNet. So glad to have you here.

Hi Cindy,
How are things in NC? Welcome to lymenet.
It does help to have a good LLMD and to have this place to come to in the good and the rough times.
Hope your lyme journey goes as smoothly as possible and some....if not...all of those symptoms go away.

Thanks for the Info about the Dr. I didn't know that. I didn't read through really well. Reading is one of my problems. I am seeing Dr. P right now but I will be seeing Dr J. Dr P seems really good. The first Dr. I have seen in tears that seems to know something. How long soes the bad reactions to the Anti biotic seen to last. I head up the Softball program in our District. I have 42 girls training this fall. I have Two assistants but I am the only Pitching trainer. How long do you think I will be out? So far I have only missed a couple of practices due to my health, However I do allot of coaching from the bench now.

WELCOME To LYMENET
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
Post for a LLMD inSeeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.
( No you don't always see a bite and if there's no bullseye the only way your going to be able to tell is (symptoms) and (((Maybe))) WB or lyme dot blot 3 day urine banged with abx's to free your antigens up for the test. ) See this ( . )thats the size of the larva stage tick... Next nymph size... ( * ) Next is adult ( o ) to ( 0 ) Pretty small????? HUH
