I don't know who remembers me as aaronkatie but my kids were diagnosed with lyme and friends over 1 1/2 years ago and have been on meds ever since.
Well, This is good news for anyone who wants to know if lyme can go away - both of my kids have been in treatment for a little over a year and as far as lyme both are really improved.
Aaron was the worst - and now he has no pain to speak of, and even though before treatment had not grown in 3 years he now has grown (foot grew 3 or 4 sizes) and put on over 10 lbs! He no longer has any night sweats which he lived with daily, no more chills and if he has to run in gym class he can do it for as long as he needs (needs to get some muscle but he's working on it).
Both kids do have psychological illness and this whole lyme thing just brought everything up - alot to explain - but physically they are both doing really well.
Thanks to all that helped me get this far with them.
It has been a long journey and unfortunately there are many other problems but I wanted everyone to know that what I wasn't sure we'd be able to accomplish, we have gotten so much done.
CBB you are so right, it is so sad when kids can not be kids and these two are just starting to do some things that 'normal' children do.
As for me, I am a different case - only way to say it but I have no regrets about putting my all into the last few years for them even if it has made me worse.

Congrats and thanks for the good news. My 3 year old is has Lyme and has been on antibiotics for 4/5 mos now and does seem to be doing better. It's such a long and frustration process, so it's good to hear of other children getting through the treatment and doing well!!!

I'm really sorry about your child - it is long and frustrating - mine are 9 and almost 12 and were born with it. Unfortunately not dx'd til about 2 years or so ago.
A very long, hard fight for sure - but I know you and yours will do it!!

Thank you Peggy, and thanks for being so much support for myself and the kids. I know we have a long road ahead but I wanted to give people hope that their children can kick atleast the tba's or enough to make them function physically.
I wish nothing but the best for Jake and Jordan (and you ofcourse!)
So good to hear from you! Thanks so much for ALL you did to help myself and my children get this far.
I thought maybe people would think I just sold the kids off to the highest bidder but no luck, lol! I'm still me, just screwed up the aaronkatie account and had to start a new one. you would think I had lyme or something.
I am so wishing the same recuperation/healing for your two little ones - I know mine have a long journey ahead but the lyme symptoms that were so bad are gone and I want to give people hope.
I'm new to this board and am so gald your children are almost there...it's so hard when children are sick.
Now, they can go back to doing what kids should be doing.
My daughter is 8 and has lyme and will have her first LLMD appt. on Decmeber 23rd. How long did it take for you to see improvement and did they tolerate the treatment okay? Unfortunately, my daughter was born with lyme and know she has a long road ahead.

Snowboarder, the kids were born with lyme too but werent dx'd until age 8 and 10 I believe. Now they are almost 10 and 12.
They were born with severe GERD - so severe they had surgery so that they could never throw up. My son has many developmental delays but is also amazingly gifted - but for lyme/babesia he had tics that are now gone. He also could not put weight on and had pain almost all over.
My daughter had and still has to some extent migraines and insomnia and some pain but her major problem is with her moods.
Both kids are pre-disposed with manic depression by genetics and are doing well on medicine for it (not great but definitely better).
My son also has Aspergers - which we thought was lyme but now that he's had alot of treatment, we can see the difference in symptoms and how much improvements in so many areas - but there, I'm sure, is still lyme there aggravating the situation.
But as for how it was addressed, we have a great llmd who used different protocols on both of them - and it really helped - aarons progress has been so amazing in 1 year (he was on almost 2 years of abx, but 1 year from this one llmd).
I wish you luck with your child, I know its a long road and i know I still have a long road ahead but so many here have helped me that I wanted to let them know that the kids have come very far in the year and a half that they have been dx'd.
