There was a thread a week or two back and I am unable to find it. It was mentioning a link for a site that posted a Doctor who was applying for disability based on what work she could not do.

I need that link.

Thanks!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Disinissues/

I contributed to the thread you are referring to, so if you search my screen name, perhaps you can find it. I remember giving the exact instructions on how to get to that info. This site is sort of confusing to navigate, so ask questions if you don't find the part you are looking for.

I don't have time to go in there and find it right now, but will check back later to see if you need help.

I used that same example when I pulled my case together, and was approved.

Rule of thumb... it's not the severity of your symptoms, but the way the symptoms prevent you from functioning. Put all your narrative in functional terms, and you will have the most chance of convincing the SSA that you are disabled.

Good luck....

Lynette, I contribued to that too.

After you've read it all over good & the links, take Connie up on her generous offer to help. She's now a "disability advocate" helping folks for hire get approved.

I'm 4.5 yrs. being denied & all my adventures are there.

As Connie said, print off the drs. report & then establish it for YOUR job. Remember, don't emphasize how many illnesses you have.

It's WHY you can't do the 8 basic: sitting, walking, standing, crawling, bending, grasping, & other one 1 can't remember.

That's why the drs. is excellent. Once you get something together like this, then call SS office to set up your appt. Otherwise, they give you 2 wks. only to get info together.

I also keep a calendar or plain paper will work and do the following for EACH appt/xray/blood lab, etc.:

SHOW COMPLETE DRS. NAME/ADDRESS/PHONE/FAX NO.
============================================
dates of each appt.
why you were there
what meds prescribed, dosage amount & what it's for;
what labs were done
WHEN you return appt.
Request COPY OF MEDICAL RECORD EACH time you are in.
IMPORTANT, check off on calendar for each dr/lab/xray report to make sure you receive them all.

Hope this helps you too.

Make sure you get a copy of ALjudge hearing TAPES if your case goes to Appeals Council.

AC did not honor my former lawyer's request
of sending him promptly my hearing tapes so he could write a DETAILED BRIEF; so NO brief was on file, & AC did not request as requested by lawyer & me by my fax to AC!

Make sure IF you hire a lawyer from the beginning who gets $5300, that they can represent you in CIVIL/FEDERAL court if AC DENIES your claim! My lawyer never told me he couldn't represent me there after I hired him 4 yrs. ago! Betty G.
