I am by no means well, but I am hopeful. I'm following Dr. S's (MD) protocol. And I've decided to follow a long-held dream of becoming a doctor (but not a ducky one!)

I was accepted at a local university. I begin in August.

I'd like to go to med school (DO, not MD) in Virginia and work with the Central Appalachian residents.

I'll be 38 in September, but I know there are older folk in med school! And the time will pass whether I do this or not, so I may as well do it!

I have a math deficit as I didn't have to take college-prep math in high school. I bought a great program, various disks. I'm not afraid of math anymore.

I'm thrilled.

Steph

From one Star to another Starr:

Thanks so much! I appreciate the support.

Thanks to you, too, Kara!

I'm worried now because I may still have active infection, and I'm severely allergic to SO many ABX. I do have a Rife machine, though.

I think I can manage. The pre-med classes won't be as intense as med school, and I'll have four years to work more toward healing.

I will say that my 20 years in "the system" has helped me very much: knowing how to treat and NOT treat patients, research. I've learned a lot about conditions. I've even "diagnosed" some people with things they later learned they had.

Steph

My mother's MD started med school when she was 45. She's a great doc. Wherever this path leads for you, I think it will be a nifty trip. I loved going back to school as a grown up. BTW, I taped critical passages from my texts and notes and listened to them all the time -- time consuming, but REALLY helped overcome the memory problems.

I saw your post about coag-staph. Star -- are you sure about this LLMD? You said he wouldn't tx you based on tests?

I'm anxious for you because I was absolutely astounded at how much of my husband's problems have been babs (and bart) -- not, as we thought, mostly Bb, including a lot of the cognitive stuff, rage, and pain. (me too, but I can see it in him more clearly than I can in me).

I realize that the abx sensitivites are a huge treatment problem. I'm trying to think of how to say this: Don't let that get in the way of you determining what you actually have.

Holding my thumbs for you.

Oh, 'Cat. You've always been a blessing!

Thanks for your encouragement. I appreciated hearing about your mother's doctor, too!

Great tip for remembering info.!

Oh, my only LLMD right now is Dr. Shoemaker. (He's public, and others have used his name on the boards.) He's the pioneer of the CSM treatment. He diagnosed the Staph, and while he used to use a very effective treatment, the FDA pulled it. Far be it for them to allow some things that work!

He uses a "triple threat" now: a cream for the nose and two orals. I can't take one of the orals, so I hope the Staph doesn't develop resistance.

It's a complicated treatment picture for us all, huh? The Lyme is an issue in and of itself, but throw any co-infections into the mix, and it's more murky.

I will see how I fare with his treatment. My husband reminded me that he didn't say I don't have active infection, just that he doesn't think so. He did say that if, after the toxin treatment, I go downhill, he will treat me for Lyme.

I'm not sure I have Babs. Some of the symptoms I attributed to Babs went away with the CSM. I have had Bart. I hope that's gone.

One day at a time, eh?

All the best to you, Steph

Thanks, Pam!

Since the "LL" part of LLMD means "Lyme-literate," I couldn't help being an LLMD if I tried.

I appreciate all your well wishes, folks.

Steph

P.S. I just thought: I would be an LLDO. I plan to become a Doctor of Osteopathy. They, overall, have more of a "whole person" philosophy, and there's a great school where I want to work. They can do everything an MD does.

Thanks, Kara. I already chose a school. I sincerely hope to get accepted to a Virginia school. I want to work with those of Central Appalachia.

Hope you're enjoying the holiday weekend!

Steph,

Congratulations! I started a night-time law program last fall. I consider it a crucial part of my treatment.
