Doesn't it just figure I start getting my life back and then menopause hits me like a ton of bricks? Geesh. Done with the hot flash thing but am missing periods now and it's almost worse than having them. I feel like I'm about to start (cramps, etc.) 24/7. Also feeling/acting grumpy and very s-l-e-e-p-y much of the time.

Just had to vent. Thanks for listening!

Hey Angela, I loved your cartoon! I drank most of my Hershey's chocolate syrup sans ice cream yesterday, so I really related to this one.

Thanks for cheering me up!

Hey BB, you're not alone!

I'm still hot flashing and have the cramps and the irritability. My Lyme is flaring w/the hormone fluctuations too.

Not only that, I'm ALLERGIC to CHOCOLATE!!!!

Sorry it is the pits for you. Have you been taking magnesium. It is the one thing that I have taken regularly since early lyme. It is my belief that mag has flattened most of the peri-menopause symptoms I was having.

THe darker the chocolate the better too.

Hopefully today will be better for you.

Mel

Thanks everyone! I assumed I wasn't the only one suffering so miserably.

Lyddie, you're allergic to chocolate? Hmmmmm. Wonder what I'd use as a replacement if I were allergic to chocolate. Possibly caramel?

And yes, my lyme symptoms flare BIG TIME with hormone fluctuations, too. I never know what to expect, but worse yet, neither does my poor husband!

Mel, Today is a better day for me. Thanks for the kind wishes! What kind of magnesium do you take -- anything special? What dosage do you take? Heck, I'd be willing to eat dandelions if I thought it would help with this!

My Lyme disease exploded 8 yrs ago when I went thru early menopause at age 45 (because of Lyme). For a year I thought that's what menopause was like when actually most of my symptoms were probably Lyme.

Many of the symptoms of Lyme and menopause overlap-flushes, fatigue, sleep problems.

Anyway I have studied HRT intensely. IMO, estrogen helps the immune system fight Lyme. Many menstrauting women have lyme flares at the time of menses when estrogen levels are lowest.

So I started using what I feel is the optimal HRT-an estradiol (bio-identical) patch (Vivelle-Dot) continously and using bio-identical progesterone vaginally days 1-11 of the month. I use Prochieve 4% days 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 of each month. Note no hormones get swallowed-a big no no.

Doing this I got Lyme under control again for a few years.

Then I broke my wrist, had 2 repair surgeries and picked up Babesai. That's when I fell apart, still trying to put the pieces back together.

This is not medical advice just my personal experience.

I never plan to stop HRT.

Janet

hey BB,
I'm right there with you. I've just missed my first one after 8 months of periods every 2 weeks. Ugh! It's been migraines and cramps almost non stop for a while. Can't sleep, though.

Pass the chocolate would you?

I'm in perimenopause. My periods used to come like clockwork. Now, the clock is broken!

Aren't wrinkles and pimples just the best?! Last night, I was thinking of this as I slathered on my anti-wrinkle eye cream and Clearasil, albeit not in the same places!

I wish my period would get here. I'm having the Big Flare, too.

Steph

Ack, the pimples never stop either, just as they clear new ones start. I had less as a teenager.

Yup, the pimples seemed to crop up overnight. Arrgghh. Mine are always along the jawline and I understand that is indicative of hormone imbalance.

And the wrinkles . . . boo-hoo-hoo! I look like I've aged 10 years in the past year and a half. My own son (26 yrs. old) asked me the other day how my face wrinkled so fast.

Was prescribed bio-identical hormones and then the pituitary specialist realized I'd had breast cancer. Nix on that prescription. I'll have to get through this au natural.

And Angela, thank you for the hug! Everyone hugged a little hard and it hurt my tender boobs!

I detest not knowing when my period is coming. Used to be every 27 days.

Passing the chocolate . . . anyone want some?

((((((Angela)))))
Thanks for that.

And thank you for the chocolate, BB, and these are for you (((((BB))))). <- I have a heck of a time getting those parenthesis(sp?) even.

Mine are mostly around the jawline as well.

I also tried a hormone patch for a month in november. Extrordinarily bad idea for me. I'll have to go through this without as well.

How many more years 'til it's done? LOL

I can't keep up with the mood swings.
I've been told that I'm poster-girl for menopausal symptoms. Now, I'm starting to wonder if they're mostly untreated babs and bart.

I'm having a heck of a time separating things out. It's a mess.

(((((hugs))))) to the rest of you as well, I lost track, sorry.
