Hi,

I am kind of new to lyme. I contracted lyme this past May 2005. I have been on doxy, iv rocephin (8 weeks) and now on omnicef and biaxin. I thought this would be over by now, but it continues. I feel better and than it all comes back like getting hit with a lead ball. I am seeing an Infectious disease specialist and he has been helpful, but I am afraid he is going to get tired of me and let me go. I have a lot of worries....also depression, due to the continued pain....muscle and joint. I guess I just need to hear from some people that have gotten through this or are going through it. It is hard on my kids and husband as well. I have faith in the Lord that he will bring me through.

I find that the symptoms are even worse after my period. I don't know why? Does anyone else.

Just had to vent....
Thanks for listening.

janjan

Hang in there kiddo, you probably did not get Lyme yesterday, so it will take some time to get rid of it or get to a remission...depending on how long you've had it...

early on...you can get cured with enough and a long enough duration of antibiotics (ABX).

However, if you have had this for many years (and, may not have known you were infected while you own immune system was taking care of the symptoms) you may only be wishing for a cure.

You did not mention how long you've had LD.

Finally, after over 3 years of abx of many types and names, and a host of other things, I've now been abx free for over a year now. I haven't even need to see my LLMD for I believe that I am in a remission.

So, you've only been treated for a short while compared to what others are actually being treated. My advice and I am not a medical only my experience is to continue to get treatment and if you haven't found an LLMD already, may I suggest that you do and sooner than later.

Gook Luck.

PS Welcome to Lymenet and read read read...the better you'll be!!!

Thanks so much rosesisland. I contracted lyme this past May 2005. I had a rash, but thought it was poison ivy or something. Started getting sick 4 weeks after and doctors could not figure it out. Not knowing anything about Lyme...I had no idea. I went through the fatigue and flu-like to joint and muscle aches. AWEFUL to say that least. I had to change doctors before at the end of June they figured it out. I than went to the infectious disease specialist, because my doctor went with the old protocol of 30 days of abx. I also was border-line on the western blot. My infectious disease specialist said that I had been on so many other abx for sinus, etc...that it does not let your body produce the anti-bodies....that is why they test results are like that. He also said he understands that it has to be treated with abx for a long time.

I live in virginia and near loudoun county. There is an outbreak of lymes here in this area. Many people in our church and locally have come down with it this year.

Thanks again for the support and I am very happy for you that your symptoms are gone and you are in remission. I will pray that you are totally free of this disease for your lifetime. You have given me hope that my life is not over and there is HOPE!!!

Thank you,

Janjan
