Ok, send a letter get someone all stressed out aggrivate their illness....and then tell them that they have the option to come back. What the heck is this bs game.
HR asked me what i was diagnosed with...so i told her....and asked if she was familar and that it causes a lot of problems...she said she was familar....in a tone like im not the only one with it in the company!!!
All of this could have been handled with a phone call...plus i was going to come back end of dec.... i probably would be on my way to healing if i didnt have the stress dumped on me!!!
She asked if she thought i could return after i told her that i had always planned on returning. She got real meak about it. I told her i wanted to help with year end etc.
I was only asking for a few more weeks.....geez!
Now i have no clue what to do....go back very sick....or stay home and rest and get beeter.

I'd suggest giving yourself as much flexibility as you can -- in terms of hours, telecommuting, etc.
I'm great working the days I feel up to it, but on herx days...it's difficult for me to get out of bed, much less try and be productive. I'm self-employed and work part time hours. All the people I work for know I'm sick and have been willing to work around my illness.
My guess is that you'll get a wide range of opinions about this. I know there are a number of people on this board who are sick and continue to hold down full time jobs.
I'm not sure how well I would have managed that.
