Lou, thanks for the site. YOu just helped me identify the latest ticks (4)that bite me 5/05. Lone Star nymphs. I've been having some new symptoms the last few months and I believe those sob's left a new bad guy in me.
One of the four bites is cycling every 30 days. It goes from a scar to a tick bite and stays a tick bite for 7 days and then back to a scar again. It took 6-8 weeks for this bite to heal to a scar and it has now changed for the 5th time.
I'm deeply concerned. I was suspicous of the Lone Star vector borne illness that the CDC is trying to figure out right now. It is called STARI. I know some things about it, but it's time to get a real education.
Thanks again Lou,
Pam

map1131,
that is me! I have the same symptoms--scabs that wont heal? Well, scab up, flack off and then scab up again?
Bad news--I've had mine for, gosh, I remember them from high school...I'm 42 now.
My doc says STARI comes on slower than Lyme but is harder to get rid of it.
Please let me know what you learn about it. there is a article from a girls camp in Western North Carolina about it and there is an article on the CDCP about finding it in North Alabama. sorry I don't have the links, but GOOGLE--I mean YAHOO--those keywords.

"I will win this war!!!!!" Over and over again. Repeat after me Pam. goodness gracious.
My only symptoms so far is all in my hands and my feet. Swelling, painful, numbness, tingling, night time pain that can be absolutely the worst pain since childbirth 26 yrs ago.

Pam,
I don't have any pain during the day. Doc says I have (and I quote) "mental capacity to push the pain away." My pain is so bad at night that it keeps me from getting any REM sleep, because I can't "push" the pain away when I'm sleeping. Also, my pain receptors get full. So when I take oxycotten it doesn't help me at all. That oxy stuff does nothing to help me with pain.
If you understand that let me know--I'm not sure I do!
Wow, I know you are sad--but I am thrilled to find someone who is describing the exact same problem I have!
It gets worse--I think these are old tick bites from when I was 3-15 years old. I have no recollection of a tick since then--but had 3 or 4 a day pulled off in a day during that time period--well not in the winter usually...
WOW--I'm relieved--I thought I had morgellons or something!

I too had been wondering about the morgellons thing. My bite looks like a big ugly pimple. I've never had the guts to squeeze it and see if anything cames out. I've been afraid to see squiggly black & white fiber looking stuff.
My internist says he wants to culture it the next cycle. I told him whoever looks at it will need to have a brain. Not some quack quack. I'm bad I know.
Linda does yours turn to a smooth normal looking scar and then back to a scab pimple looking bite?
Take care, Pam
oh by the way I don't like being in your club.

Pam,
At least you aren't alone!
Yes, mine appear to heal and then they come back.
I had tons of them along my hairline--and before I come here I went to the dermatologist and he inserted a tiny bit of steroid and abx and they have gone away and not come back. that's been a little over a year ago.
Nothing comes out of them but puse--I've never seen anything that looked like a bug. But man do they itch.
