Hi. I am still struggling with coming up with a meal plan for following a yeast-free diet (although the responses I received from my prior post on yeast free diet have been very helpful!)

... does anyone know of or have used a nutritionist (i live in Fairfield County, CT) that is familiar with lyme and helpful in putting together a plan of what (and what not) to eat? thanks so much for your help.

Hopefully someone will come up with a name. The basics are that you eat protein and vegetables. Leave out the ones with alot of starch like corn, potatoes, rice, carrots, and peas. Leave out bread and dairy.

Ezekiel Bread is OK, but only if you are not having a really bad time with the yeast.

No beans.

I guess no mayonnaise--too much sugar?

A nutritionist would have a fit that you are not eating from all 4 food groups!

mayonnaise should be left out if you are trying to clear the yeast. Once you get it under control, you can have small amounts of it.

Dont' forget to take tons of probiotics!

It may be because of the vinegar. I think vinegar kills the good bacteria.

Yes, but GO EASY! I found out that yeast still likes to eat the sugar alcohols. I HATED it when I found that out!!!!!

In general, salad dressing bad. Most salad dressing has vinegar or mayonnaise, both of which are loaded with sugars.

There are good nutritionists out there. I am getting tested for food allergies by my LLMD and she is referring me to a nutritionist to work out a healthy diet once the results are in. This is because I have been having gastro issues. I had to stop the yeast prevention diet because of other food limits.

I have a soy mayo right here it says it has:

Canola oil, filtered water, brown rice syrup, apple cider vinigar, sea salt, mustard flour, and lemon juice concetrate

Too much sugar from the apple cider vinigar, plus vinigar. Well I tried.

How many of you have hard time staying on this yeast free diet? I know I do.

why don't you just get the book-there's 2, one discusses it and one's a cook book

when i was real sick in the beginning my llmd said jjust start by eleiminating the top 7:

wine
beer
sugar
vinigar
mushrooms
peanuts
cheese

and be careful of fruit: have only a little and have berries or apples...when there is a lot of fiber (skin) with the fruit i guess it isn't as much like sugar...

there's lots of sourdough breads out there now

i eat mostly whole grains and unprocessed food and a lot of veggies and with the above i never got into trouble with yeast-3 yrs long term orals

the books name is The Yeast Connection (i think)
