Need some advice here. I am in the middle of neurological symptoms that mimic (Lord Willing) ALS. I am 30 years old and was otherwise healthy until June when my rt. hand (fingers/joints) started swelling. I also had pins and needles down the insides of my arms into my hands.

Within three weeks my forearms were tightening up and my arms felt weak in the shoulders. (My calves were also tightening and my quads felt shakey) I went through the gammet of tests and everything was negative. (MRI, CT, EMG etc)

I have internal tremors, twitching, clonus, weakness, memory issues, swallowing issues, inability to sleep, right sided headaches, hate cold, and some shock like stuff internally that's hard to explain.

I am wondering if this is Lyme OR if this could be mercury poisoning. This all started after a cleaning and tooth problem that had me brushing and flossing 7-8 times a day until they fixed it.

I have already consulted with a bio-dentist regarding removal of fillings and will have that done. Wondering what to do in the meantime. LLMD specialist appt Nov. 8th. Any suggestions?

Michelle

You know, it is of course very difficult to say with something like this, because mercury poisoning can mimic anything, as can Lyme - so what I am about to say is just pure opinion.

The things that scream metal poisoning to me are yellow palms (although not everyone gets that, and Lymies get it too) an inability to sweat, kidney pain, spongy, bleeding gums and personality issues.

The things that SCREAM Lyme to me are myoclonus, twitching, that internal buzzing feeling, insomnia, memory stuff...(although again, not every Lymie gets all these by far).

So what I'm thinking here is its definitely Lyme - although Lyme is thought to be related to metals by many in the alternative health fields - just so you know...

This is just opinion, just off top of my head - I really have no idea for sure.

There are metals tests that are not dangerous and dumb (DMPS challenge in my mind is both dangerous and dumb). Like urine porphyrins or hair tests. You should also get a Western Blot from Igenex.

Good luck figuring it out - hope the LLMD can shed more light on the matter.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your response. I change my mind as to which way I lean minute to minute. I am seeing Dr. J in Hermitage on Nov. 7th. Hopefully he will test me via Igenix and I will know for sure.

I have ordered a Heavy Metal Hair Test Kit- it should arrive soon and then I will send it back out. I am hoping just for an answer- one that will bring treatment and restoration.

THanks again.
MIchelle

I agree with BBrain on just about everything....except the DMPS Challenge.

I feel you'll never get a real understanding of all of the different metals you have until they are 'flushed' out.

Other than that...RIGHT ON!!!

Lyme.....can come on with teeth and gum problems...fast.

Good Luck...sounds like you got a head on your shoulders. Just focus and see the light at the end of the tunnel..it IS there.

I do feel that you won't go forward without antibiotics no matter WHAT the metals test says.

Thanks Trout. Have you had chelation? I am a little concerned about it as an autistic boy recently died (August) in the Pittsburgh area while enduring Chelation.

What I've read on it- it's more dangerous to those with neurological problems... (ding ding ding... that's me.) Anyway, I will research it further.

I remain on Doxy daily until Nov. 8th when I see the LLMD. Maybe he'll have advice on treating BOTH issues.

Thanks again.

Michelle, I was treated for mercury toxicity for a year and a half before they found the lyme. I did chelation for the heavy metal and my mercury levels were really high. After I was diagnosed with lyme I asked my dr. about the high mercury and he didnt know how the tow were connected. The only way he figured was that my body was so sick from the lyme that it couldnt get rid of the poisons. I to had my silver fillings removed. Make sure you have a good dentist that will remove them right or you will release more mercury into your body. I called alot of dentist and asked around before I decided on one. If you do chelation make sure you have a dr. that knows what he is doing or you could get sicker and waste alot of money. I went to one that did just regular chelation and I needed a diferent form for the mercury. Good luck. Angie

I have a lyme/mercury related question. I've been treated for lyme for the past 6 months and because I'm not progressing the way my dr would like we tested for heavy leads and both lead and mercury were high. (Mercury was elevated even before chelation.) I want to have amalgoms out right away (safely) but don't know if chelation has to be started right after. I've heard it should be 4 days later. Dentist did say to take vit c before we start. Can I wait longer or will I have bad side effects without chelating? My appointment with a lyme/mercury specialist isn't until August. Thanks!

Michelle, I highly recommend you do a search for the archives on Gigi..She has so much out there on this and how to detox as you go.

Off of the top of my head, I would suggest a lot of water with lemon juice or oil and/or chlorella.

I am not sure if chloresteramine aids mercury detox or not but you might also research chronicneurotoxins.com for info..

I am not a Dr so these are only my personal thoughts..

Our support group recently had an alternative Dr present a program..I remember he said that just one mercury filling was enough to contaminate a small pond.

I have always worried about this and now only get composite fillings and my children only have a few but all are composite. But I do have a couple of old ones that are metal..Someday I will get them out.

I think Gigi explains the proper process for removal that prevents the mercury from causing a problem. lymemomtooo

Michelle.... Be sure to click on Medical Forum when doing a search.

I had my amalgams out 3+ yrs ago and haven't done chelation.
