DocDave I run a hotline out of my home phone number and do a support group, too. I have people who have been recovered for years who won't take ONE EVENING to come BACK into Lyme hell to tell and share their story.

People need to move on and some people don't want to spend ONE more minute of their life in Lymeland. I used to see them as selfish and it bugged me. Now I see us all as selfish, me just as selfish in my self-righteous self-sacrificing way... Most people don't hang out to witness.

I never really looked at the numbers....just focused on the good.

I plan on being in that number one of those days.

I know that Lyme will always be a part of my life, whether I am actively sick with it or not.

It has definitely raised my conciousness on so many issues.

There are so many people suffering.....

I almost feel like it is a calling for me.

Today and in the future.

It is my humble opinion that Lyme will become a house hold name in a few years....

Would like to be able to support someone else through this, like I have been and continue to be.

Hugs,

Geneal

Thank you Sarah for bringing that part up.

Thank you also for all the work you do to help, support and educate people.

You have helped me through some very dark moments with your past posts and conversations.

She is right, I have met people that are 90% if not well who don't post.

I have a friend before her relapse that never posted..someone I still consider so much of a success from where she came from health wise. She never posted!!

Is scary though there is only 2 pages..yikes.

I know in the Lyme Times Magazines there are alot of success stories.

Also, it's always a good refresher for me to ask my LLMD. He's got tons!!

Dave, There are numerous posts of success stories!
Do a search for them.

I wish someone would compile them into one. I've read of many posters success, and each time they post it--- I ask them to put their story into the success thread.....they rarely do!

Please don't gauge success with this single post.

guys don't get so heavy on me.

this was just a small comparison of the number
that are not cured compared to the ones that are cured.

i would say the ratio may be 2000:1
not cured/ cured

this is a very bad statistic whatever the number are.
yes i can crunch them further, delete the troll
but the ratio will not change much.
with inaccurate dx, filing with cdc and health
service the number of lymies is probably ten
times the number given.

i bought a house in the nc mountains.
filled with deer, mice and rodents everywhere.
my cat brings us at least 1 mouse a day.
went to the pharmacy in Boone,nc.
city of 15,000. same situation.

asked the pharmacist,
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE LYME IN BOONE, AND SURROUNDING AREAS.

HE ANSWERED" HAVEN'T HEARD OF A CASE UP IN THE MOUNTAINS"
YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON I HEARD OF WITH LYME.

NOW HOW CAN THIS BE:
COULD IT BE THIS POPULATION OF 15,000+
HAVE DEER, TICKS AND MICE BUT NO LYME!!!!!!!

HAVE THE DOCTORS AT DUKE, NOT HEARD OF LYME.
HAS THE LYME GROUP IN WINSTON SALEM, NOT TOLD
THE PEOPLE AND DOCTORS IN BOONE, THERE IS
LYME DISEASE IN NC MOUNTAINS.

THESE STATISICS ARE IMPOSSIBLE.
SOMEBODY IN BOONE, AND I'M SURE MANY HAVE LYME.
IT IS STATISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM NOT TO HAVE LYME.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who just haven't posted their stories. I am one of them. I'm afraid it will jinx me!!!

My story is below and it sounds like a success, but we all know the reality of Lyme!

i KNOW IT IS BIG TASK, BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE SOME STATS.

I CONTINUE TO THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE A WAY TO CONTACT THOSE WITH LYME AND DO A FOLLOW UP TO SEE WHERE THEY ARE ANNUALLY.

IN OTHER WORDS, TO GET SOME SORT OF STATS GOING.

IT SEEMS I TALKED TO CALDA ABOUT THIS WHEN I FIRST GOT SICK.

THEY WANTED TO KNOW IF I KNEW HOW TO SET UP A PROGRAM ON LINE FOR THIS.

I THINK I COULD HAVE DONE IT BEFORE LYME, BUT NOT NOW.

Now, the brain didn't figure out I needed to hit the key to get the caps off until I hit the submit button and then it took several tries for me to type a correct sentence.

Back to doing something mindless...i guess

Ha,no cases up in he mnts. because the lymies were to sick and tired to go up in the mnts..

Or maybe the ticks up there carry a lyme parasite that is the cure.

A bug to eat the bug, sort of thing.

I'm a success story in progress, and I've posted a thread to that effect - because Lyme sometimes takes YEARS to cure, I think sometimes the best those of us here (going through tx) can do is look at the smaller successes and not diagnose ourselves as cured/not cured.

I'm cured of several symptoms, for example, but not of every Lyme symptom.

As for not being up the mtns - hee hee! My state is not considered endemic (or even barely on the CDC register for Lyme), but everywhere I go people tell me they either had it or know someone who has it. So far I've tallied 34 people who live within 30 miles of me who have told me they have it or a family member who lives here has it. Plus, a doc in my city was nudged out of treating Lyme by insurance companies. I live in a tiny town and he was a family doc, but they got to him.

If it's *that* big of a deal, why on earth are we considered to have only 15 LD cases in the region? It's insane and it's always been insane. Do they just not want people to panic about an epidemic? Ugh!

Here's to many, many more success stories in the future!

Some personal datapoints: three people living on my street had Lyme at various times over the past 10 years. They all were pretty sick for some time (months) before getting treatment. They are all 100% normal now. Also I know of many others (friends of people I know) who have had Lyme and recovered and moved on.

Though there may be periods I seem to disappear, I will always try to help; lymeNet was a huge factor in my treatment! (and helped me find local support, etc.). Everything is cause and effect. We shouldn't necessarily come down on those that 'disappear', though; they may well be working for lyme in other ways- there's only finitely many things one can do. Especially in the aftermath of lyme, trying to get one's life back on track (without getting Lymed again!) makes it hard to think about anything else. I think I was counted in at least one poll on those who got better, but may have missed at least one, too!
I will say one thing though- my case is highly indicative that there is a terrible crime going on. Perhaps the strong multiple abx treatment was risky. But I might well have died without it! (especially the artimesia and atovaquone). That I had to travel out-of-state to get medical care, at my own expense I could not afford places the united snakes squarely in the third-world category!!!!

Maybe some just forget and some say they will do it when they can handle it, and then forget.
