Well, looks like Im gonna go ahead with the surgery. Ive put it in Gods hands. If its meant to be, it'll be done. If not, he'll put a stop to it right? right. I have to take some comfort in that.

However, I am still nervous about it. I just don't want it to make my digestive issues worse ya know?

Hi nal

I think anyone would be nervous. Just make sure they give you some abx before & maybe after just in case of infection.

And don't forget to remind the surgon, before the surgury to check your bile duc tube for stones before he closes.

Personally I don't see how this could make your digestive problems any worse. The GB isn't workin and it is out of there.

I think this could only help. To what degree would be the million dollar question

Good luck and hang in there
I'll be praying for you

I agree, and "ME TOO"!!!

I would also advise at least a week's worth of abx following surgery. Mega doses. I'm sorry I didn't do that! Would have saved me several thousand dollars!

I can empatize-I recently had a total hysterectomy and bladder repair-one month prior to being diagnosed with Lyme. Waiting for surgery is almost the hardest part.

I,too, was more nervous about the after effects of the bladder surgery- but things have much improved. [Smile]

PS my gallbladder is full of stones, but no obstruction-so we are leaving it alone for now. I am not experiencing pain from it either-not yet at least-YIKES.

This too shall pass, one day at a time. Any kind of surgery is scary. Thanks for posting-will keep you in my thoughts and prayers-truly hoping it will relieve some of your suffering.

Nal,
Are you having it done by scope?? Or old fashion, incision way?? Scope is a lot easier on you if it can be done. But obviously you are past that decision.

You will be up and flying before you KNOW it!!! good Luck,,,and relax, cant do anything about it anyway!!! [Wink]

Yeah, the plan is to do laproscopically unless he encounters a problem then he'll have to open me up. I just dont want my digestion to get worse than it is already!

You all are right though. Im already having lots of pain, IBS, gastritis, etc so I cant see how it can get too much worse. Thanks for the prayers too-they mean more to me than you will ever know.

Hellooooo <<<<< Nal >>>>> Don't worry to much about the surgery hon',okay?! It is natural to be nervous, that is for sure!!

I had mine GB out in Oct.of '04, I didn't know anything about Lyme/TBDs then. I still have IBS,and some other digestive problems going on. I do not however have a diseased gallbladder full of stones anymore.

It took me a few weeks to get to feeling better, but then I have the 'CFIDS/FMS symptoms' so anything seems to take longer for me to heal.

I stayed overnght in the hopsital as I often have a bit of nausea problems from the anesthetic. I was glad that I stayed overnight, even w/ the extra cost.

Will keep you in my tho'ts and prayers honey, you hang in there, I'm thinkin' you're gonna feel a whole lot better afterward. ANd do give yourself extra healing time, don't push things to fast okay?!!

hooray! I am excited for your possibilty of relief! Being nervous about surgery as everyone has said is really normal. It is the worst part I think.

Try to focus on the good outcome you want right now. The bad thoughts will be there and scare the crap out of you, but there isnt anything you can do. You CAN focus on the good that could come of this. Keep positive thoughts flowing and keep saying things like--I will heal and the pain I have now will be so much less!! And really visualize it. It works.

One more thing to tell the anathesiologist--NO STEROIDS. Sometimes they DO use some kinds of steroids in their coctails. Take a list with you and make sure they know---no steroids, yes ABX, etc.

Good luck! I think this is gonna be a big turn around for you,
Trails

I was nervous before the surgery. It sounds really traumatic - surgery and taking out an organ.

But it really didnt hurt that much. Done laproscopically the fact that air is blown into you is the most painful part.

Compared to the pain I have had from the lyme, surgery wasnt bad at all. Now no more attacks and I can still eat fatty stuff.

What kind of IBS do you have? too slow or too fast?

I hope having it removed brings you complete relief.

try not to worry more than you have to. You know how they say that stress can make healthy people sick. Well I think when you are already sick espically long term chronically ill it is much worse.

I try not to woryy about stuff to much because I know if I get to stressed it has a definite negative impact on my health.

Best wishes

Hi,have you been on IV rocephin???

If so it could just be sludge, not stones.

It could clear on its own if it is sludge from rocephin. If you stop the rocephin!!

I know from experience it can only go up from here. I've had mine out and when I first heard I had to get my gallbladder out the family (mostly me) was in denial. I'd never had surgery before.

But everyone was really nice and it has to be one of the easiest surgeries you can have (not that I have anything to compare it to.) I was doing better in roughly a week's time or so. Just don't be so hard on yourself the first few days... everyone kept telling me I'd be eating pizza the next day which did NOT happen... best of luck!
