Hi folks, I'm afraid I got alittle carried away with excitement in my last post about the recent donations to Dr. Jones' Legal Defense Fund,
Yes, it's truly wonderful that people have donated so much during the past month.
HOWEVER, there are ALWAYS unexpected expenses in such legal cases, sometimes very significant expenses. And, of course, there is always the possibility that the case will last longer than expected.
SO PLEASE CONTINUE WITH THE FUND RAISING NOW.
I was overly optimistic in saying we could relax our work for a while until we saw how much more is needed.
Forget I said it. We may not know how much more will be needed, but we do pretty much know that more will be needed.
So, back to work for all of us. If by some miracle we should be so successful that we collect too much money, then any extra funds will be donated to two related causes.
Smaller amounts would be given to send non-LLMDs to ILADS conferences. If there is a larger amount, it could go toward financing a preceptorship, an opportunity for a physician to train with Dr Jones.
Not that I worry that we'll have extra money, but it is a question people have asked. I think we will have to work very hard just to make sure there is enough money,
Whatever we have been doing in the past month, we have been doing it right. So please keep on keeping on. GIve what you can. Get friends and relatives to give what they can.
Kay has a website with some great ideas , including a gift card to make donations in someone's name. I figure there's a good chance we all have a birthday this year,, so it would be good to put out the word that we would like donations to the fund in lieu of gifts. http://www.lymesite.com/note_card_when_.htm
Sheila is organizing an all-day "Jewelry, Wellness and Fun Festival" scheduled for August 26 in Hyannis. There's still time for members of the Lyme community to plan a trip to Cape Cod this summer (bring plenty of DEET, of course!), so that you can attend this important fundraiser. [email protected]
Anyone else with fundraising plans, please let me know.
BUT, DON'T FORGET HOW EFFECTIVE IT IS TO JUST GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND ASK FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO DO THE SAME. ---------------------------------------------------------- TO DONATE TO THE CHARLES RAY JONES LEGAL DEFENSE FUND: Make the check out to Dr. Jones Legal Defense Fund.

[Please keep this near the top. We need everyone focussed on Dr Jones' defense fund now. we have made great strides, but still not enough to stop fund raising.
Please think about writing friends and having them donate money in your name now in lieu of any gifts they might get you this year. Kay has gift cards on her site that you can suggest they use. Ellen

Check out this week's ebay auctions! We have a lot of nice things for sale! Go to www.ebay.com and enter LLMD in the search box.
Wendy, the Pattern Lady, has listed some nice things in her own ebay sales and used LLMD in the subject line. Thanks Wendy!
Thanks to Sue Vogan, Rita Stanley, Deaven, Alison, Nancy W. & Linda Hilliard for all the great items listed this week!
We have a one hour radio show with Sue Vogan! This was removed by ebay last week because I had too many links listed on the auction. It is back this week and I promise, it will stay the course!

I spoke to Dr. Jones yesterday. He is very grateful for the support the Lyme Community has shown to him but he emphasized it is VERY important that we continue to support these fundraisers. No one knows if more hearings will be necessary. Each one incurs significant expenses!
The other unknown is the possibilty of fines, if the outcome doesn't go the way it should. So PLEASE continue to do whatever you are able to do to contribute. Our childen's lives are on the line!
