Hello,
I am new here. I have Morgellons disease and I was told to get tested for LYme disease. I did but I went to a doctor who did not use a lab that I keep hearing is the best Ignex. It was the Quest lab. Anyway I have a copy of the results and I don't really get it. He basically said he doubted I had Lyme disease from what he saw on the tests but I figured I wold ask someone here anyway. I had the elisa test and the western blot. The western blot came back negative then it said IgG indeterminate A . I don't know if tht means much but I'm posting it just in case. Then it says" CDC kDa band;IgM reacitivity noot significantly different from negative control IgG 41. While there is some IgG badn reactivity the results do not meet the CDC criteria for a western blot"Then it says " rheumatoid factor is 7 and lyme result is borderline A nonreactive" WHEW! sorry this is so long... Does ANYONE know what this means. Please don;t tell me to call the doctor who did the test. He was just awful and I made the huge mistake of mentioning Morgellons to him so he thinks Im nuts.. Any info would be appreciated.. Thanks so much Hilary

Welcome, Hilary!

So do you mean that the only band showing up was band 41??

Yes, Igenex is the best lab for Lyme. Do you think you can find an LLMD where you are?? YOu can post in Seeking a Doctor to find one.

YOu may want to post this again over in Medical Questions.

You will get many more responses that way!!

here is a link that explains the WB:

Post on "seeking a doctor" section for a llmd dr. in your area. Just from the tests mentioned, my guess is he is not well versed in the intricacies of lyme. You will need a lyme literate doctor.

Probably better say if you are east, west, central NY state, but be prepared to travel.

He gave you an ELISA, which is a tad better than flipping a coin. You need Igenix Western Blot. Quest can sometimes pick up, but not always. CDC requirements have nothing to do with a lyme diagnoses for treatment.
