Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has met any attorney in California that a familiar with lyme disease??

I live in Monterey Bay area, but will consider anyone near bye. I probably going to try for disabilty insurance (SSDI).

Thanks,

CaliYmer

I would recommend checking out Scott Davis in Phoenix: http://www.scottdavispc.com/Welcome.htm

He specializes in chronic fatigue and pain cases and can practice in every state.

The one caveat: if you end up in federal appeals court, he will not be able to represent you, but will help you find good representation.

He helped me and I was awarded SSDI a month after submitting all documentation to SSA.

Unlike most disability attorneys, Scott believes that it is important for the attorney to be involved from the very beginning to help the client present a compelling case from the outset. Most attorneys will not begin consulting until there have been two denials.

His success rate, according to his web site, is more than 90 percent.

Hi Betty and Suzzane,

Thank you both for the info.

I did contact him and set up an appointement. They called me back and said they are not taking appointments outside of AZ. [confused]

Thanks again,

CaliLymer

Rucka, O'Boyle, Lombardo & McKenna, in Monterey

N. Michael Rucka is the senior partner and 100% of his practice is employee related.

You need someone who can fight for you and who is system literate.

It is never a good idea to use a friend of the family, or a relative. The practice areas of law are very distinct and while any attorney can practice in any area without specialized credentials (except trademark & copyright) they all have their areas of expertise.

Another avenue is to ask your doctor if he knows any attorneys in particular who have helped his patients recieve SSDI.

You are going to need your doctors help in this regard so it is better to let him know early on you are thinking along those lines. Maybe you should call the doctor first and ask him about any attorneys and get a feel for how helpful he/she will be.

Let me know if this law firm works out for you. I am looking for one that will help me with workmens' comp and CALPERS industrial medical leave.

WE had several of us come down sick at work. At least 3 of us were dx with fibro/stress/CFS.

I didn't buy that and kept looking for answers and was finally dx with lyme disease..although it was one of the things I had always been looking at since I had the symptoms and the bite with a ring around it.

The two that were dx with CFS/stress/fibro were approved.

I doubt you'll find a lyme literate attorney, but Mr. Rucka is an attorney who knows the system in the area where you live.

No one in the legal field that I know of is lyme literate in the way I think you are using this term. There are attorneys who have helped people with Lyme but it is with tried and true principles that work with all disabilities.

You are not going to find any attorney who works on contingency as SSDI attorneys do who are going to want to be educated on something that will make NO DIFFERENCE in the way they handle your case.

Do you want a good attorney or someone you can talk lyme with? They are not the same thing. This firm has a good reputation and if you are disabled should be able to help you.

Ask if any of his clients have gotten disability for Lyme if you want? But if that is your sole requirement for an attorney I wish you luck, because the attorney who knows lyme very well may be an estate planner and will be of no use to you.

It does you no harm to have a consulatation and you may be pleasantly surprised. Worse case scenario is his firm may put you in contact with another firm that could help you.

You can also ask CALDA maybe they know of an attorney that meets your criteria.
