I tested posotive for lyme when i was 17 in new jersey. I was prescribed 1 month of antibiiotics and being 17 and ignorant only took 2 wks of them before becoming lackadsicle about it. Everything seemed fine until about 4yrs ago when i started getting a host of odd symptoms, anxiety, cognitive dysfunction, roaming joint pains, testicular pain, all coming in bouts every 1-2 months. I got every test from spinal taps to mris to ultrasounds, etc.. To no end. I was diagnosed with Anxiety with panic attacks and put on paxil. I struggled for 2 yrs. with the paxil and have recently quit it off for 2 mnths now. My symptoms still resurface every couple months and the nuerological problems sre a daily struggle. I am convinced i have chronic lyme and am having trouble positively id'ing it with western blots and elisa. Need a doc who is serious about finding what is wrong and treating it any suggestions and does it sound like lyme to anyone else who has it similar to my case and has been posotively verified as having it?

Yes, it could be lyme, complicated with coinfections that have not been treated.

You are in a part of the country now where there is not as much lyme and consequently hard to find any lyme literate docs. Check with the support groups in that region(click on support groups line in green menu box, left side of this page). There are lyme docs in CA, if you can't find anyone closer.

The problem is that very few docs will even consider lyme in their differential diagnosis, so that is why you need a lyme literate doc. They will consider lyme along with other possible causes of your symptoms.

Read the newby links on this website for a lot more info. Just pick off a few items at a time; too much there to absorb in one sitting.

Hi there. I would bet money on it.

First order of business is finding a dr who, as you say, will take this seriously.

Lyme Literate Medical Doctors [LLMD's] are your best bet. There are not a lot of them....especially in your area, but we will do our best to find you someone.

Can you travel?
