Ok this is embarrasing, but before I start a new relationship with a guy Ive been avoiding but really like, does anyone know if it Lyme is sexually transmitted? I did a search but only one article came up and it didnt really have an answer. Id ask my Dr. if he knew anything about Lyme disease! LOL. Thanks for any advice. Lisa

There is good info on the sexual transmission of lyme in the "Newbie Links" here. Go to medical and scroll down a few subject titles and you will find it.
Also, there have been a few discussions about dating with lyme that should come up with a search.
Sorry you are having to deal with this!

Well, I have lyme. My husband was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy...he was asymptomatic, but his heart is impaired. He is now being tested for tick borne diseases, as they can cause cardiomyopathy. Our cardiologist is learning one heck of a lot about TBD!
I would be very upfront with whomever...TBD MAY be sexually transmissable.
If the tests come back even slightly suspicious for TBD, my husband will be on IV antibiotics.

I was kind of wondering the same thing. I have read in MANY places that Lyme is sexually transmitted BUT it only states via semen. Does that exclude a female passing it to a male? I was dx with Lyme in June and wondering if it's possible that I could pass it to my boyfriend. STD's can be passed from female to male, which makes me believe that LD can as well.
