So Saturday morning I woke up with a high fever and in AGONY and the 28th thing I thought was, "Oh my god I shouldn't have written back in that thread about bedridden because my Higher Power is punishing me for taking things for granted!" The first 27 things I thought were variations of profanity and OUCH!!!

SO WHAT DID I DO?

I went into total DENIAL. I thought it was the Lyme come back full-fledged. I obviously had a fever and I had massive abdominal pain, back pain, chills,nausea... so there I am and my plan is...

A. call my doctor!!!
B. go to ER!!!
C. A& B!!!
D. tell my husband he has to watch kids I am going to stay in bed all day and not get out!

I hoped D would work!!!

Did it>?

NO!!!!

SUNDAY MORNING I wake up, actually I was up most of night in pain, and boom!!! I am still in same shape. Husband is STILL furious. He had WEIRD idea I should have done A B or C the DAY BEFORE!!!

Now he says "IF YOU STILL HAVE A TEMPERATURE I AM TAKING YOU TO THE ER IF I HAVE TO KIDNAP YOU!!!"
And he meant it.

I was SO MAD AT HIM. Because I had a very high temp and I was not thinking right.

So the day before my temperature had been ONLY 102.5 but uh oh, it was 103!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO OFF WE GO.

And of course, as soon as they started taking my patient history they went, "OF COURSE!" and I went, "OH THAT"S RIGHT!" because I have had this before. I had a kidney infection. Because I have weak kidneys because of a birth defect where I was born without my utrinary tract complete but they didn't discover it until I was almost 3 and went into renal failure- because we were living in India and all of my recurrent fevers were attriubted to the food and water and malaria...
when really the uric acid that was supposed to go THROUGH my kidneys was eating them away burning them away from the outside and burned more than half of one away!!

ANYWAYS,
not everything is Lyme and my fear of a relapse almost KILLED me!!! Correction- my INCREDIBLE STUPIDITY!@! I just wanted to wake up and have everything be all right again!!!

So anywayz, they did bloodwork and a kidney ultrasound and yup that was what it was and they gave me IV Rocephin because they couldn't give me IV Levaquin because I am nursing!!! And now I am on Keflex too-

I am still running a fever and in lots of pain because I don't take pain meds- but that allows me to be grateful for things- and I AM SO GRATEFUL it isnot the lYme coming back-

Best of all,
the ER doc and nurse were respectful re Lyme and didn't say one non-kosher word-
thank goodness-

it is hard to give Lyme lectures with a 103 fever!

so I was off a few days and will be resting af ew more if you don't her from me,
Lyme too, your pm box is full!*)!

Oh, it was funny when the doc said, "Since the Levaquin is OUT - we'll have to use... IV Rocephin- it's this antibiotic that-"

and I said, "Oh, I know about Rocpehin!!! I was on it for 9 months!!" and he said, "Oh that's right, you have Lyme disease. 9 months! It's a good antibiotic."
so that was reassuring...

Best wishes,
Sarah

Get well soon, Sarah! Thanks for reminding us to always ask "Is there another way of looking at this scenario" before drawing conclusions too quickly.

(I would make one exeption, if someone has just seen a Lyme rash don't think another minute before demanding ABX this very moment! I tried the "Maybe it's something else routine with myself and waited too long to be treated with disastrous results.")
