THe Omega-3 conection to 5-HIAA ...

Here's one reason why Omega-3 fatty acids profoundly affect mood.

[Big Grin] Serotonin is a brain transmitter that plays a key role in keeping people HAPPY. [Big Grin]

[Big Grin] Optimum levels of Serotonin are essential to feeling good!

[Frown] Severely depressed patients, however, are known to have very LOW levels of Serotonin metabolite or break down product called 5-HIAA ( 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid).

It is now known that essential fatty acid levels in the body predict 5-HIAA levels ( and probably Serotonin levels, too).
