I would rather be in pain and exhausted and confused than be lied to, manipulated, robbed and ignored.
My PCP says Epstein-Barr is negative, my new specialist environmental doc says positive. Now I'm told E-B might be causing all my symptoms? Riiiight. Because *that's* a virus and there's no treatment, which makes their job easier. Also, since when does EB cause all these neuro symptoms and Bell's Palsy?
Also? This new environmental med doc is obviously money-hungry (wants to begin IV vitamin, IV hydrogen peroxide and hyperbaric treament on Monday, before we even have a decent lyme test result, solely based on a disputed EB positive).
Of course all of those things are NOT covered by insurance and run about $100 per treatment x 3 treatments x 3 times per week. Then he got mad at me for asking if it would be cheaper for me to order the IgeneX lyme test kit and bring it into his office. I left as fast as I could.
My PCP ran lyme test last Friday, but the lab did ONLY Elisa b/c it came back negative, plus my doc let the blood sit in the office fridge for four days after they drew it before sending it to be tested. Yep, the lab didn't get my blood until TUESDAY. At first she told me my WB was asolutely negative (she went so far as to say there were no positive bands when I asked her specifically about the bands) and then backtracked and said they didn't run it at all b/c the elisa was neg.
I freakin' give up. There are no doctors who actually want to help me and those who ACT like they want to help me are after my money. I have no strength/energy/brain power left and I'm sick of being jerked around.
I was better off spending what little energy I had playing with my son.
Lyme, or whatever the hell you are, you win.

SarahL~ Sorry for your discouraging situation. Most of us here can relate.
Giving up won't solve your problems, however. There are some wonderful doctors out there...although they are few and far between.
I am praying that you will find one to help you soon.

Dear Sarah,
My ducks (all 7 of them) almost had me convinced I had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I was so sick....and tired.....and stressed!!!
I had a referral to a psychiatrist. Called him.
Thank God he wasn't taking any new patients!!!
It was then that I decided that my joint pain, inability to speak, sleep, swallow, think, remember, walk straight, while running a fever wasn't all in my head.
Found a MD (prior to finding this board) who respected my request to be tested for Lyme (had already requested this from all prior 7 ducks).
Okay....so it wasn't Igenex....it was Quest...and I only had one positive band (Igm 23), but that was enough for me
and my LLMD when I was directed to him from Tutu on this board.
I think their game plan (ducks) is to wear you out and down until you think they actually know what they are quacking about.
If you quit.....you'll stay sick and get sicker.
Don't let those ducks win!!!Your health and well being is so much more important if not to you, then to your son.
I myself have two young children. They are pretty powerful motivators.
Sending you positive thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,
Geneal

Please stay. We can help you get to a real doctor. Most of us have already been through what you are going through now with the doctors and all their different stories. Trust me, when you get a good Lyme doctor, the world changes. Right nwo you are on a wild goose chase and you need to stop, focus, gather your information and go forward. Giving up is not an answer to anything. We can help, just ask.

Sarah, don't give up.
What you describe is just the duck walk.
Each of us had a similar path.
Now you know why LLMD's exist.
See one, and get some hope! You really won't believe how much better you can be.

Don't give up - there is good help out there. I had a bad case of EB but later found out it was due to the immune system being taxed by the lyme infections.
I would be very hesitant to do any expensive EB treatment without knowing if there are other infections going on.
There are other ways to getting EB under control that are effective and less expensive. My Homeopathic put me on a number of natural anti-virals and immune system supports while being treated for the lyme and co-infections. The viral issues are gone now.

a duck can be lethal to your physical and mental health. i don't know about clubbing them to death, but high tailing it outta there is definitely called for.
hang in. it gets better.

What a difference a LLMD can make! I got in yesterday with one on a rush appointment and got a REAL IgeneX test (plus co-infections) done and shipped overnight to CA. Fedex says my blood is already in CA!!! YAY!!!
Now just three loooooong weeks until we get the results!
Thanks for all the messages - I wrote that post on a very hard day!

PLEASE PM me. I really would like information about the LLMD you saw. I am getting desperate here to start treatment with someone. Looks like the LLMD I have seen will not be able to treat me for many months, if at all.
I am willing to travel if it's not too far. Traveling makes me very ill.
I am SO glad you found someone to help you. I hope you will PM me soon.
Blessings, Janet
