I was pretty excited about starting to feel better, and then I came down with a case of strep.

My house looks like the inside of a hampster cage, the beds have been peed in again, and my dog is roaming the neighborhood since nobody has walked her.

My best friend who I havn't seen for two years is coming from out of state to visit this weekend and can't really sleep in one of the peed on beds. The laundry is piled very high on what should turn in to the guest room.

I'm not getting my friend to dig me out of this one, because she probably has some of what we are all dealing with too. The basics have to get attended to here, whether I feel up to it or not.

My husband is great, but his plate is full. He can't take over my department too. Motherhod doesn't have sick leave.

Somebody throw me a good go get em.

Three suggestions:

1) hire a housecleaner for one day to work with you to get the place ready

2) buy plastic covers for the beds

3) find a local hotel and suggest the friend would be better staying there, if you or they can afford it.

Ok, 4.....if 1-3 don't work, just do what you can for 30 minutes. Then do the same every few hours. You'd be amazed at how much can be done in spurts rather than an exhausting marathan.

Good luck and go to it! [cussing]

If you're asking me-you're asking the wrong person. My "into action" mechanism went kapoot. I never "promise" anyone anymore-I just say-it's my intention to...which leaves a giant loophole in getting anything accomplished.

Just tell your friend one of the symptoms of Lyme Disease is the Piling Up Syndrome. It's hard to do laundry when you are suspended in time and place and your feet don't even touch the ground.

I have one local friend whose come to visit several times-and she has yet to make it more than three feet into my apartment for all the piles.

Now I did see some moths flying around the other day-the small kind that probably hatched from the box of muffin mix still unpacked under the table. I just looked at my cat and said "Go Get Em !"
I was grateful Bernie had an opportunity to get some exercise.

Well, good luck.

Good suggestions all! Thank you. I may just go for the rent-a-maid.

Meals are going to be two choices:

1. Rummage under the table in yesterdays grocery bags for a can of soup.
2. Order Chinese

Hm I'm feeling better already.

Ah, don't forget pizza. Everyone loves that. And most pizza delivery places offer salad too. Your friend might want veggies.

And make sure it's delivery. [Smile]

Pizza and salad! Yes!

So that's it. That's why I've been waiting for the last four years to recover from childbirth when all those annoyingly skinny and fit women walk in and out of the gym with two little ones younger than my last. I'm in suspended animation.

I go to step on the treadmill and nothing happens. I go to pick up the laundry off the floor and nothing happens. I go to remember what I was about to remember and nothing happens.

Its a good thing my feet don't touch the ground, because then I'd be tripping over the videos and dollhouse furniture. Wait...I'm deprived of the lowest pain level!

But actually I am starting to feel a little better. I think I graduated from hit by a truck to just a fall down the stairs. I think the strep might be getting intimidated and looking for something better to do.

What's helping me the most is checking in for a laugh in between feeble spirts of motivation.

It's Friday! Company's coming soon right?

more suggestions:
flip the matresses.

"air" all the sheets out the window-maybe when she pulls up to the house she'll decide on her own to check into the nearest motel.

tell her someone broke into your house and ransacked it.

go camping for the weekend.

Next time offer to go visit her.

And since it is Friday-remember TGIF-Thank God I'm Forgiven!

Now it's the paranoia. Ever get that?

When my energy is especially low, everyone does their best to get me engaged and interactive, even all night long.

The house was like a popcorn factory all night, me with a persistent cough, one kid crying about global warming and the oceans dying, and the other just wanting to remind me that she loves me.

When I lose sleep too many nights in a row, the paranoia kicks in.

The phone rings and I know its "them" and they're really going to give it to me this time. I get spam, and I know it's "them", about to tell me off for something I forgot to do.

I'm a seven year old being made to stand in the corner for making the other kids laugh during a boring math lecture.

I'm in that dream where you find out you've gone to school with no clothes on.

The rational brain in the corner of my consciousness still gets to stay in charge and call the shots.

Reality is a fragile thing. Its okay, I've got years of practice choosing my own reality.

My husband told me not to go to work today, despite no sick day benefits. I'm a dutiful wife. I obeyed.

I'll have to see if the priority today is beds for friends or bedtime for me.

Thanks again for all your support! You guys are the best.

Well I somehow managed to handle the whole family coming down with some kind of flu, and still enjoyed my guests.

Woke up Saturday morning and managed to put together a fourth birthday party with my friend's help. Invited a couple of kids last minute, and had cake and balloons. It's what there was to do! Then sat around and chilled with some neat moms who know how to throw away paper plates without being micromanaged.

Then dined for the week on pizza, chinese, eggs, and cereal.

This is the one friend who understands my experience of lyme in all its glory, and who I don't even have to ask for forgiveness.

I look forward to feeling like I could drive 800 miles to her house!

I'm gonna get there!

Was this the four week bomb that people talk about getting? I was doing so well, then hit the floor for a week. Now I'm crawing back out. Should I plan on this again in another three weeks?

Its amazing how the simplest things, like putting away a load of laundry, can seem monumental one day, and then no biggie another.

Thanks for your posts and helps. Thanks for checking in on me here and there, Cobweb. Its nice to have friends in virtual places!
