Just wanted to post this.

I know there is nothing one can do to prevent sudden situations that may create

A sudden surge of adrenaline, but yesterday I had a shocking start to my Mother's day.

A couple of days ago, my husband saw the tail of a snake under our travel trailer.

I told him to get the shovel and get at it.

He said he could tell it wasn't a poisonous snake because it didn't act aggressive.

With two small children and 7 dogs, I am not one to take chances.

I don't kill non-poisonous snakes, but the poisonous ones....well, they gotta go!

I noticed yesterday, first thing in the morning, one of my dogs

Suspiciously sniffing a tuft of grass about 75 yards from the trailer.

I put the dogs in (no easy feat), grabbed a shovel and went to investigate.

Sure enough, hidden under the grass was a copperhead.

Right where my children play.

Just thinking about it makes my heart beat faster.

It lunged a few times at me before I was able to pin it down and kill it.

I was shaky, heart racing, etc. Big adrenaline rush.

My Lyme symptoms were greatly increased yesterday following this episode.

I HATE snakes...

Especially poisonous ones.

If my husband hadn't been sleeping (still), I would have sent him out.

Although I am relieved, it sure doesn't take much to upset that fine balance physically.

Now my children call me the snake hunter.

Hugs,

Geneal

Ssssnake Huntah!

Not everyone would have killed the snake; you didn't run.

Isn't it amazing what strange bravery we can summon in the name of protecting our young!

Every traumatic event or "could-of-happened" situation weakens me too. I handle the crisis well and then take days to recover.

You done good, mama!v Nows time to recover!

Thanks everybody...

And thanks so much for the laughs.

I did tell my kids that I am the official snake hunter in this house..

(That is unless I can bribe someone else to do it)

Hugs,

Geneal
