For quite some time now, I keep getting flashbacks of places I have been in the past.

I thought it might be fun to start a thread on these mini mind vacations.

Hope you will share yours too.

But, they pop in and out of my brain quickly. I can't recall what popped in my mind that I was going to write down now...I'll get back to you.

4 vacations i won't forget:

7-84, mom, dad, and i along with 10 other immediate family relatives flew to Norway for 15 days where Grandpa came from. we drove to area where he lived and took that farm name and brought to USA. we stated with never met before distance cousins where our great grandmothers were sisters. took 1 wk. bus tour seeing so much and drove back to where relatives were getting to know them.

7-87, going to canada and taking mom there so she could meet 2 never before 1st cousins on her mom's side of family. i did the family tree on that family bringing it up to date.

8-88, mom and i going on 9 day bus tour to salt lake city, vegas, laughlin, denver, cheyenne, etc. this was her last big bus trip where she got sick again after eating tomatos.

took her to drs. again and finally this time was diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome tumor cancer after 6-7 years of doctoring with no one following up. we had her almost 2 yrs. more.

8-2000, 8 day bus trip to philadelphia and new york city seeing the sights. i took this in memory of my 41 yr. old sister, marilyn, who died from advanced breast cancer in liver. she had been 6.5 yrs. cancer free. the trip was too much for me since i was lucky to get ONE hour of sleep per night if that!

kam, thanks for asking! [group hug] [kiss]

I was lucky enough to have parents who loved to travel. Despite being farmers tied to the cows, they always got help so we could take off every summer!

1972 - one month trip across the country to see every sight Mom ever wanted to see

1987 - trip to Yellowstone with my then-fiance's family

1991 - trip to California for a friend's wedding. Saw all the sights in Los Angeles/San Diego

1995 - Erin go Bragh! Trip with my sister, Mom, Dad, and aunt to the Emerald Isle and then 3 days in London

Since getting Lyme disease - one painful trip to Disney World with lots of help.

Traveling now is but a happy, distant memory! Thank God I did a lot of it when I could!

The trip of a lifetime for us.

May 2005: Fly to Vancouver and get on the MS Ryndam and cruise up the inside passage of Alaska for 7 days. We had a balcony suite which was expensive but very worth it!

We went before school was out so there were virtually no kids on this cruise. Nothing against kids but it made it a very calm, quiet cruise. The average age of the passengers was around 65. The decks were not crowded. The food was divine.

The seven days went quickly (hubby blew out his knee going up some stairs and spent the rest of the trip on crutches but it didn't slow him down much). Tnen we had 5 days of a land excursion.

We spent 2 days in Denali and I rode a horse on the tundra. Then went on the McKinley Explorer train to Juneau where we had a one day riverboat cruise.

This is just the highlights of this trip.
Thanks so much for posting this thread. It made my day to recall that trip!
