Hello! I'd appreciate if anyone can help me.

I was given a Tuffcare Challenger power chair. It is operating, but I really need to have it serviced.

I am in New Jersey and am not having any luck finding anyone who can perform a service call for this chair.

If you know of anyone or a company that can service this type of wheelchair, please post it here or send me a private message.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Monica, have you been letting your teenaged son go 4-wheeling in the power chair again?

[Wink]

Or was it you this time??

I wish I could help. I did find the manufacturer; maybe if you called them they could recommend someone? I'm presuming they keep a list of authorized repair places in each state in case a chair under warranty needs repair.

Tuffcare Chairs

Kidding aside, I'm hoping you are doing well with your new LLMD and your knee pain is better.

Hugs,

Michelle

Good news! The chair seems to be working again. My son made sure that the levers were in the "power" position and since that time it's been working just fine.

Michelle, he does give the chair a rough ride now and again, but I don't think that was the cause of the problem!

Keep your fingers crossed please, everyone!

Hurray! Glad it is working again.

We have trouble finding good repair guys for power chairs in AZ too.

Hopefully, you will not need one.

I spoke too soon.

Still having problems, but my son and I put our thinking caps on and we think it may be the battery charger.

I hope so. Since I got two estimates over the phone from repairmen who said they didn't know how to repair Tuffcare, but figured if it needed a new controller that would run at least $1000!

I ordered a new charger and got it today so we will see if that does the trick.

Please cross those fingers again!

I am NOT an expert by any means.

What I have found out is MOST all the components of 'most' chairs are VERY similiar to car batterys and chargers.

They use a more expensive gell battery to avoid fumes and such inside and on planes. Gell batteries are good from the stand point of corrosion and dirty posts.

MOST auto places can check battereis and chargers,if they WANT to. The controller is about the hardest parts of these. But they cant be all that hard to take apart, and fix also. Wish I had a junker to take apart and see how they work.

Most power chairs want YOU to be captivated customers of their high priced over rated service departments. Alot like hydralic jack repair,,,little knowledge, no work,,,and they are good as new!!! AND you get WAY overcharged!! (There is a little known secret with those!!)

Hope the charger works for YOU!!being -just don--
