Hi guys!

I decided to write a letter to a local news station asking them to run a story on Lyme disease. Hopefully they will do something, otherwise I will Keep going down the list.

Here is what I wrote. I am no expert yet so hopefully it is accurate. We will see what happens.

To whom It may concern,

I am a veterinary Technician and have been doing this for 10 years. I have also lived in Massaschusetts my whole life.

About 5-6 weeks ago I was stricken with a strange illness that would not go away. I am lucky to have a great doctor and he tested me for several illness. I am at risk for certain illness due to my work.

I had many symptoms, some included constant low grade fever, severe muscle and point pain, Severe headaches, fatigue, a minor sore throat, my voice changed to be more hoarse, and I had muscle twitches through out my body.

It turns out I have LYME DISEASE. I have never seen a tick on my body or the tell tale bullseye rash. I NEVER KNEW I was bitten. I have been debilitated and out of work for about 5 weeks.

I have 2 small children and I can't tell you how bad I have been affected by this. My whole family has been too. Luckily, it appears my doctor caught this early and hopefully I will be cured.

Some people are not so lucky and face serious health problems for years.

Half of people with LYME disease never even knew they were bitten. If you could please do some kind of story on this matter may save some families and pets (dogs often aquire Lyme disease) the pain and sufering that comes with this disease.

There are also other diseases that can be transmitted by a tick bite and some people and pets are unlucky to have more than one illness from a single bite!

Some of the ticks are no bigger than a poppy seed, I think people in our area have been focusing on EEE alot, but I think the chances are that a person is much more likely to get or already have Lyme disease. I am happy to speak to you further regarding this issue.

Sincerely,
Melissa %$@!#%

I am a little afraid since I don't know aa lot about Lyme.

All I can tell them how it has affected me in my life, and in the lives of patients I have treated (dogs) and the new friends I have made here.

They have taken story ideas from me before so we will see. Hopefully it will be done justice.
