My doctor has agreed to see my 2 year old and have him tested via IgeneX. The question I have is should I get the more expensive test that tests for Lyme and all co-infections. Or just get the Lyme test??? Can you have co-infection without having Lyme? Thank you for all replies!

lauren, in my NON-MEDICAL opinion, YES! can be co-infection w/out lyme from what i've read. HAVE LYME TESTED ONLY AT IGENEX and ************************* here's what i'd do & save you $750 on CO-INFECTIONS; have the blood sent here ok! ARIZONA LYME/TICK LAB ... excellent for co-infections: bart/babs! Dr. Fry 15720 N Greenway-Hayden Loop, Suite 3, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. is 480-991-4555, it may be to the lab or to the doctor's office not sure. Scott Forsgren or someone stated cost was $250 for babs/bart co-infection testing! vs. igenex's expensive $900 charge for co-infections! i think this info is now in my newbie package as well! good luck!

Dear Lauren, I had both of my children (ages 4 and 5) tested via Igenex. Luckily, my RN neighbors did the blood draw and had some numbing cream available to put on their Arms at least one hour before the stick. They didn't feel a thing. I think that cream minimized the "fear" of both my children and myself about having Them tested. As far as co-infections. Our LLMD said that is something we are just going to have to monitor. We decided not to test for them. Too expensive and unreliable. They are both being treated for Lyme. I continue to look for "sign" of co-infections. I guess only time will tell. Hugs, Geneal
