My friend, who has had Lyme and Babesiosis for years, has been on orals for a long time w/o much improvement. Our LLMD says she needs IV Rocephin to get on her feet again but our insur co says no. (We have the same LLMD and insur co.) I even wrote a letter of appeal. She's on disability and has Medicare but, of course, when the insur co says no, so does Medicare.

Anyone have any suggestions? She spends most of her time in her bedroom with blankets pinned up to the windows!

Thanks...Carol

The old walk-in (now gone) posted a Medicare appeal number if you believe Medicare didn't pay enough or if Medicare wouldn't pay.

I believe it was a group who helped you with Medicare appeals but I have no idea what the name and number are.

Getting a spect scan helps to validate need for IV . More likely Insurance will pay.
