We're moving in the very near future (which is going to be an ordeal for me - I'm even sicker than when we moved in a year ago). Anyway, I was packing up things in my medicine chest.
I have a ridiculous amount of leftover prescriptions. I had quite a few that I ended up being that 1% that just has terrible side effects, and thus stopped before taking the whole month's worth.
So here I sit with half full bottles of medications, some (like Lyrica) hard to get approved through insurance, if you even have any insurance.
Is there anything I can do with these other than just throw them away? They've all been prescribed within the last year, most within the last few months, so they're not old. I hate to throw away medication that others need, but I'm also sure it's illegal to just start mailing them off to folks.
I just wonder if there's a way I could put them to good use.

Only one of them was an antibiotic, I'll hang on to that.
I've been to a ton of doctors in the past year, with a ton of diagnoses. I've got antidepressants and stuff for neuropathic pain and all manner of different medication chilling in my medicine cabinet now.

You can ask your doctor's office. I believe there are some nonprofits that can help pass prescriptions to those in need. Check the expiration date though.

It is a good idea to check the expiration dates on all meds. You many need to get rid of some of them.
Ones that are still okay might be given to a nursing home. Some of them accept meds.
