Trying to figure out why the set back with the little use of my brain that I have.

I am no longer on Ketek. (doc was supplying samples and I ran out. Insurance will not provide it. Been on ketek for over a year now.

When I first stopped it I was doing better than usual. But quickly went down hill.

Waiting for telephone consult with lyme doc to see what the next plan of attack is.

Meeting is at end of month.

But, whole body pain is back and weakness..pretty much having to lie in bed or in the recliner.

This is still better than previous set backs.

I also came down with a cold/flu...which I hear is good because it means the immune system is working.

Not sure how long I have had it now..guessing a week.

I also over did it and had a burst of energy and pulled all the boxes out of storage and into the front room.

Idea was to find things I Have not been able to find since moving and to sort through things and get better organized.

Not sure how long ago that was...guessing a month

But, haven't had the strength to even look in boxes.

And I am not getting the help with household chores I once had...cut back to 3 hours a month.

Trying to do things on my own. Which I prefer. I like to be able to find things.

Other obstacle is my brain is going again and I can't recall where things are. Taht was coming back.

Just realize I have not been keeping up with xango...need to do a better job of that too.

So far still able to get to grocery store and fix something to eat which is good for the moral but tough on the health.

Was going to go to store today via the senior van but cancelled due to health.

I was also walking once a day and haven't been able to do that in about a week either..guessing..miss it.

It is a tough call with this...figuring things out in order to maximise the strength and energy we have each day.

Feedback, idea, questions, concerns, clear as mud?

I was one of the people who won the podi patch raffle and they are on the way. Hoping that will help.

I also stopped doing the water therapy as insurance denied it...but started walking instead for 10 or 15 min until recently.

I also have not been doing any detox...no bath tub here...

do have an appointment to go to a hot tub Friday if I am strong enough to get there.

I also have been very poor at getting water in my for quite some time.

Going to get up and go drink a bottle of water right now.

Hoping I am strong enough tomorrow to put up some plastic on the car window as we have a storm coming in.

Need to to hardware store and get duck tape which is a challenge when the health goes south.

Dear KAM,

So sorry to hear that you have hit this bump in the road.

IMHO, you need to go see your local doc. This cold that started as viral may have turned bacterial. After a week, it would be good to get checked.

Best,
Karen

Hi Kam,

I am sorry you are feeling worse. [group hug]

I am also sorry you lost your acess to ketek. How long have you been off it?

Are you on any abx now?

How long did it take before you started feeling worse?

I would need only a couple days off before my symptoms started getting worse. I now believe this is because of the coinfection I have.

What is your dr.s plan if you dont have any abx right now. Is there anything natural he could tell you to take until you get axcess to abx again (if you dont have any now)

Some natural stuff isnt as expensive as some of the stuff.. so maybe that is an option.

---

Overexertion will always make me crash. Try not to do more than you can. Prioritize and use your energy for the things at the top of the list.

And please put the things that will help your health at the top. (tidying your place should be at the bottom)

As far as cooking, I can't do this everyday. Being on a no carb diet is hard when cooking often takes all or more than I have axcess to energy wise.

So on one of my better days, I pull a chair up to the stove/oven and cook a whole bunch of meat. I let it cool and freeze it.

I also buy frozen vegatables. Partially because I am not well enough to even keep fresh ones in the house and partially because frozen requires no prep.

This way my whole meal can be cooked by pressing a few buttons on the microwave.

I also cook for other people sometimes but I just try to make alot and then there are leftovers for them at least another night. (they dont need to eat my diet so i cook them different stuff)

So if you dont mind eating the same thing for awhile, cooking a bigger amount of something may actually conserve energy in the end. I reheat things in the microwave.

I would be lost without the microwave. [dizzy]
--

Also any time a get sick (like a cold) it makes my lyme symptoms so much worse. So hopefully when you kick the cold/flu you have you will start to feel better.

Hope you feel better soon Kam [group hug]

Called primary doct's office to make an appointment.

Instead was told to call back at 8:30 am the next day to see if there were any openings in the clinic that day???

That is a first. Not sure what that was about.

What clinic?

Brain was not working well enough to deal with anything more.

Not sure how long i have been off ketek.

I think it might be a good idea to try and find out as lyme doc may ask me the same thing.

Or when things started going south again.

Brain is just thinking in pieces right now.

Betty,

I had Blue Cross/Blue Shield the first 18 months of this when my health went south.

The good news is because of it, they were able to rule out MS, Myasthenia Gravis, parkinson's, and many other conditions.

The bad news is even with insurance at that time they were not able to figure out how to help me nor the others at work who came down sick.

DX stress/fibro/cfs/valley fever for 3 of us...not sure what the others were dx finally.

Still had to step out of the insurance box to get answers as to why my health went south and pay out of pocket.

Then, because I was not able to work...I no longer had that insurance.

Don't think they would have helped even if I still had it with the controversy right now on how to treat lyme disease.

Thanks Azure Wish. Good reminders. I am beginning to feel a little better and do think having the cold is a big part of the set back.

I keep thinking normal with this although I have not been normal for 7 years now.

But, a cold never stopped me in my tracks when I was normal.

Didn't call in Friday at 8:30 am. I was at the grocery store getting food in the house for the weekend.

Senior Van does not run on weekend and I had previously made an appointment for them to pick me up on Friday at 8.

Glad I was able to pick up a few things that are easy to prepare. I just need to put them in the oven for 30m minutes and heat.

I was pretty out of it while at the grocery store but at least able to get the job done for about 15 minutes.

Good thing I had my power chair. I also asked for help when needed.

Most of the time I will not do this but I was too weak to not ask for help this time.

Since we have a snow storm coming in this weekend ...good to know I have food covered.

So foggy, I don't have a clue as to how much I spent. So glad I can just ran the card through the machine and have it debited from my checking.

I know it was not much and I can look on line to find out how much it was later.

Good thing it was the first of the month and not the end. That would have added more stress.

I have been trying to limit use of microwave.

I have heard several times that the nutrition is gone when using microwave.

I will use it when I prefer a warm meal and am too weak to heat it up any other way and just need to get food in me.

I also have tried to limit plastics since coming down with this.

Heard from several resources that the plastics are toxic..which makes sense.

And I also donated my teflon pans and aluminum pans to thrift shop when I first came down sick.

Learned they were also not good health wise.

Stainless steel pans are OK and cast iron and glass.

Thanks for you support. It helps so much when we are going through the rough times.
