I know what they say is bogus, so why is it that it takes so long to recover?
This latest one who I went to bc Dr. S. suspects I have seizures, wants to diagnose me with a Conversion Disorder (Freud; when your body becomes ill because of repressed cigars).
Anyway, he told me I'm in denial. Well, I said I have great conscious / subconscious integrity, and know myself thoroughly, plus I've got a psychiatrist and psychologist who say that the reason behind my illness is physical.
But it still bugs me. I think it's bc I'm concerned about the reports he may produce; the fact that I'm sticking with him to do more tests.

sorry you are having to deal with a form of "its all in your head" quack talk.
"...wants to diagnose me with a Conversion Disorder (Freud; when your body becomes ill because of repressed cigars)."
I really think frued would be quite displeased with the route the psychatric feild has gone.
I don't think he ever intended the inability for a doctor to find an answer.. to produce the "there is nothing REALLY wrong with you" attitude it has.
I hope you do get some real answers to the whats and whys concerning your seizures so you can hopefully at least control them.

Thank you, Azure and Meg.
Dr. S. has diagnosed me as having seizures, so that's enough for me.
However, I'm attempting to get tests in Canada, which means going through a neuro: specifically for one test. After this, I should be able to get the SPECT and MRI from my GP (Canadian version of PCP). Or at least I hope so.
Meg: This is Neuro #3, and he's BETTER than the other 2. I think the only way I'm going to get help from an actual neuro is if I go to the US.
I'm mainly concerned neuro #3 is going to try to cause sh*t with other providers in Canada who are helping me.
It's a lousy test: you are an in-patient while they monitor your events with electrodes attached to your head for...days...weeks...month? Until they have enough events on record. They take you off seizure meds a little at a time, if necessary.
Oh sounds bad!
And in the end, I'm not so sure that the results will change my treatment. I guess it's insurance? that if they can locate something on their crude devices that monitor brainwaves (but not brainwaves deeper into the brain, I've heard) that I can indeed be treated for seizures locally.
I guess what I have to ask the Duck is whether he will monitor my meds if he deems my symptoms Conversion?
Perhaps if the answer is no, I will quit him before the test.
I'll see what Dr. S. thinks.
Thanks for the input. Ick

Well....technically he is right.
Your brain is in your head. The seizures are caused by
Misfiring of neurons (rapidly and too many).
So......it is all in your head.
Sorry, thought to make you smile.
I hate that we have to jump through their ego hoops to get treatment.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Geneal

Thanks, Geneal.
Yep, it's crazy what we have to go through in order to get testing. I'm going to cancel my next appt. and wait until I get the test done, in order to get his results, and then vamoose from there (unless by some miracle an actual seizure spike is seen).
This test sounds like a real holler too. I think you can't bring laptops or cell phones either. Grand
Best wishes,

canbrave, I've got a therapist that knows I'm not crazy too. I could careless if some medical doctor put in my records that he thinks I'm crazy because of some of my experiences.
Really, don't fret about this doctors ignorance. You know what they say about opinions, don't you?
