Hi there. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease a couple years ago and just wanted to share my story.
During fall quarter in my sophomore year of college I started to notice a round red rash on my shin. It didn't hurt and didn't itch but continued to watch it as it expanded from 2in across to 4in with another ring forming in the center. I went to my doctor to check it out and she told me that it was ring worm and prescribed a huge tube of anti itch cream for it.
1. I've had ring worm before and this was definitely not ringworm. It was not blistery or oozy. 2. It did not itch but prescribed anti itch cream anyways. 3. She did not instruct me to treat it with anti-fungal like a doctor who knew what they were doing would have done.
Luckily, a friend of my family is a rheumatoid arthritis doctor who specializes in Lyme disease. I went to him and with a quick examination, he concluded that it was Lyme. However, he did a blood test for the antibody and it came back negative. He said it was possible that I could have been bitten a few months ago in a place where I wouldn't be able to see the rash and the rashes can come and go in different areas of the body. I was given a 2-week round of antibiotics and the rash disappeared.
Fairly recently I have had strange rashes (not bulls-eye), heart troubles, and other symptoms that I can't find causes for. I'm hoping that the Lyme is not starting to rear its ugly head again.
For those with more Lyme experience, what do you all think?

The bulls eye is dx itself,,,blood work was TOO soon to be positive,,,plus tests are worthless anway!!
NOW,,, go find yourself a real deal LLMD that some others recommend to you,,,and go get well!!(before ya get sicker yet,,or dead!!)
I was told lyme resolves on its own,no treatment necessary,,,yeah, like AFTER we die!! Thats why the saying doctors 'bury their mistakes!!!'opinions of--just don--

Welcome to Lyme Net!
I am sorry to hear you are having problems now. Yes, it could very well be Lyme again.
Unfortunately, about 60% of folks treated with the standard protocol have been found to relapse... hence... the reasoning behind treating the initial exposure for a minimium of 6 weeks.
In the Medical Section of LymeNet there is a Newbies Post by Treepatrol that has a lot of good links for you.
send me a PM, private message, after you've done this! it's 2 people standing together icon. ask me to send you my lengthy newbie package of info which includes TREEPATROL'S LINK of newbie links of over 1000 sites of good info!
