Victoria Wilcox, 17, is boldly going where many teens have not gone before. Because she's been diagnosed with a debilitating case of Lyme disease, which can often leave her nauseated, weak, confused and fatigued, Victoria has had to grow up fast.

Spending more than a month in the hospital at once would have anyone thinking that her glass is half-empty, but this teen has instead decided to view the situation in a more positive light.

Victoria says, "I am thankful for the people it has brought into my life and some things that it has brought to me."

And, as a matter of fact, Victoria has focused all of her positive energy and her gratitude into the organization of a Lyme disease walk with her friend, Sarah Lynch, which will occur on June 7.

With the help of friends, family and others who are affected by Lyme, Victoria is hoping that this walk will raise awareness about the disease itself and its prevention.

Victoria's Web site, www. lymewalk.org, contains all the information regarding the walk, Victoria's own story about her struggle with Lyme disease and how the public can show its support.

Like Victoria, many teens are compelled to give something back to their community, and she is an excellent example of how one can do so. Despite her own physical limitations, she is determined to do the best she can to help others.

So what is her advice to teens looking to make a positive impact on the rest of the world? "Go out there, find a cause, and go for what seems impossible!" -- MARISSA ANGELL, Horseheads High School.

KUDOES TO MARISSA for her heartwarming story about you Victoria!! Hooray to you/her for keeping your WALK alive!

have you attempted to get any celebrities involved in your NY walk? NYC walk? can't remember.

Victoria, YOU ARE A SHINING ROLE MODEL for teens; YOU are making a difference in teens/young kids lyme world! [group hug] [hi]

Victoria, here's the post I just left there about you/your article!!

I was directed to the wonderful story here about lyme patient, Victoria Wilcox, 17, and her friend, Sarah, organizing a huge LYME DISEASE AWARENESS WALK IN NY! KUDOS VICTORIA & SARAH.

If I have the wrong 2nd name, sorry; I'm had chronic lyme for 38 years; 34 years misdiagnosed by 40-50 drs/specialists in Iowa! We do not have full-time CHRONIC LYME LITERATE doctors in Iowa so must go out of state for treatments, etc.

Victoria is a role model for TEENS WITH LYME; not only has she organized this lyme walk; here's another KUDO for her!

She made a lyme video with some of her friends that have lyme as well.

Take a look at it and let Victoria know what you think by posting your resonse HERE of this less than 3.5 minute video!! Outstanding Victoria! [Smile]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpB287Yx9iQ

I hope you will be able to particiate in the LYME WALK that Victoria & Sarah have organized, and that you took the less than 3.5 minutes to watch this teen lyme video!

Keep up the good work Vicitoria; the lyme community and world will remember your name, VICTORIA WILCOX, as being one of the nation's leading LYME ACTIVISTS in decades to come! KUDOS!

Betty G, Iowa lyme activist [Cool]
