Recap of week 23

 -

A prize for the person who spots these first.

Andie...

Sunday: 1 mile
Monday: 1.5 miles
1 mile for me on Wednesday

Nothing on Tuesday or Thursday.

Cathy.....

Must have worn myself out since today I just didn't feel like making the effort. Not sure why I'm so darn tired, but I'm sure it's just a phase. No walking for me today.

I'm having some issues with my legs. Wondering if it's coming from lower back pain. Right now I'm on a heating pad and thinking that perhaps the jucuzzi in the bathroom might help with circulation since I don't know what is going on.

I'm still not back up and running. Doctor has me pulling back on the Levequin, so hopefully that will fix whatever was going haywire with my legs.

Just got back from approx 1 1/2 mile walk, but really struggled getting back with knee and hip issues. Guess I went a little further than I should have and knew how ever far I walked out, I'd need to walk back.

Lou....

??????

KAM.....

Sunday...strolled to Phoenix Tree. 15 min est. Also did a little training with Rosie while walking.

walked to the phoenix tree...est 20 min

Tuesday, April 1st. 5 min in, rested on boulder, 5 min out.

did the 10 min loop this am in the forest

5 min on the trail and the fatigue set in. I was at the crossroads. so, i took the side trail back to the car. Dag gum it.

Big hike at other end of trail head. NO idea how long or how far. Also up and down hike.

down for the count afterwards with head stuff and vomiting. missed trip to ca to see LLMD

TuTu..not doing well either this week.

Sunday am....outing to rodeo grounds. est 45 min in power chair. Saw Brahma's Bulls and horses exercises in arena.

Love the smell of alfalfa bails. Wanted to bring one home and put on patio.

Rosie got a much needed good work out. She was off leash the whole time.

Sunday pm....10 min loop. Bloating big time and increase in flu like symptoms even with a couple of excedrin.

It is lupine...lavender...the shoots are starting to bloom on the lower level.

All the leaves were turned toward the afternoon sun.

Monday...went to dog park for morning outing via car. About 15 min outing including drive there and back.

Waking up and having the head stuff for a few days now. Thought I would give the brain and body a rest. AT least I am doing well enough to take 2 excedrin and get out of the house for a short time.

Notice on BB that a person will be coming to train dogs to avoid snakes. Heard the cost is $100. Ouch. Heard he was good and that others who have particpated still have their dogs avoid snakes 3 years later.

$100 is not in my budget. But, the possibility that Rosie is digging under boulders and rocks due to a possible snake being there as mentioned on the last weeks thread is a reality.

There is no way I could carry her to the car if she is bitten.

One more concern to add to the many concerns while dealing with the limits of lyme disease.

Kam,

I like your spring pictures, but since we are still covered in snow, I imagine I'll be one of the first from this group to see any signs of flowers. Is there a boobie prize too?

I did get in LIGHT walking over the weekend and the pain has really settled down. I'm in fatigue phase now, but that's usually the last thing that comes about before the herx ends for me, so here's to hoping I'll be up and going again in a day or two.

Then again, we may not get the spring flowers very soon, but we atleast don't get the poisoness snakes in this part of the country either. Guess there's pros and cons no matter where you are.

I hope you start feeling better soon. You too, tutu.

Andie and Lou, you still walking strong?

Cathy

Hey all. I'm back online. Missed you all.

I did walk last week. But didn't keep track of mileage.

Today -- 1 mile.

Hope you are all well -- and walking!

Welcome back Lou. I forgot you were going to be off line for a while. Missed you.

Glad you are still putting the rubber to the road. [Smile]

Just read somewhere how it helps with other things too....like avoiding Alzheimers in our old age.

good to see everyone...and kam, thanks as always for posting and setting this up each week!

You'll have to let us know about Rosie and the snake-avoider. Sounds like a good idea, but it does seem like there's always something not on the budget, doesn't it?

Glad your headache relented long enough for you to get out.

Welcome back, lou; missed seeing you here!

Cathy????

for me:

Sunday -- 1 mile
Monday -- 1.5 miles

Hopefully, I'll still be on track for tomorrow.

Take care, everyone and good walking.

Lou and Andie...good to see you.

It is Tuesday. How are you doing Cathy?

Wonder where Wolfie is and Rocky.

I think TuTu is still down for the count. TuTu? Are you doing any better?

Don, did you have that yard sale?

Woke up with a clear head for the first time in a long time and a good night's sleep. Nice [Smile]

Welcome Back Lou!!!! What do you mean by legs burning? Is this an entire burning leg or is it burning in the tendon's? Sorry....still trying to figure out what the doctor's don't know. How to tell a normal herx burn vs a Levaquin side effect leading to tendon ruptures. [Smile]

All is fine here. Going to try to keep going atleast 1/2 mile daily until the doctor tells me which way he's thinking regarding this current abx. Got in my 1/2 mile yesterday and will do it again about lunch time today.

I figure if I set up this routine and go further on the days I'm feeling more energy, it should set me up nicely. Going to keep pushing through this leg thing until my doctor says "no".

Andie, looks like you are burning up the track. Good job!

Kam, That's interesting about this also helping avoid alzheimer's. I know that before my diagnosis, I started wondering if I had that since I was getting lost constantly from places that I could have done in my sleep. The confusion was horrid.

Turned out it was lyme and have reversed most of those symptoms, but don't want to add anything else to this equation, so will keep walking.

Cathy

Cathy . . . the burning. Not sure what a burning tendon would feel like. It was a burning mostly in my right leg -- through the knee down to just above my ankle. I thought it was a burning due to the exercise.

But if there is one thing that I have learned about lyme disease . . . it is that we know very little about lyme disease. So, who knows what the burning is from. It is mostly gone now, so I still think it was from the exercise.

TuTu -- Wolfie & Rocky -- Don . . . hope you are all doing OK.

Andie . . . glad I am not the only one trying to burn up the track without burning myself out.

And Kam . . . God Bless you, Kam! So happy that you woke up today feeling truly awake. Hugs to Rosie!

pedometers....

Did a little research on the web about pedometers.

Read about one that can register going up and down hills vs just registering steps.

Wondering what you all have experienced with using pedometers.

I do know that flat walking is a lot different than when I am stronger and walk up an incline to sit on the resting rock or blaze my own trail through the forest as I see something I want to get a closer look at.

Just curious about pedometers and would like to actually know how far I am walking instead of just going with time at this point.

Hi all,,,congrads on all the GOOD walking.

As for me I am on my feet all day long these days(see thread on medical re toes thing). So much my feet are terrible sore all night!!

Hoping they get in shape and quit doing that SOON!!

As to the yard sale,,,IF you consider about 10 acres of area a "YARD" i guess,,,I am just going to call it the great AMerican give away AND it is officially scheduled for April 30th.

IF I am ready for it by that time,,it will be truely amazing!! So many things to fix,so many things to do, sort and organize.

MY army that promised,,,"Oh we will be there to help" conviently forgets to arrive,,maybe another day!!

NO accurate way to determine how far of walking all day but exhausting at best.

I think we should start an unoffical fund for keep "Rosie" alive fund and free of poisonous snakes. I actually wondered how that worked,,we dont have poisonous snakes here either!!

SOOO any contributors interested in a 'Rosie stay well fund',,,guess you can PM me!! cant "IMAGINE" Kam surviving well without her!!

Oh and is that shovel pic above an official "Super Dupper Pooper Scooper"???

KAM Laughing.....

Hmm. Super Dooper Poop Picker upper.

Ran into that guy whose car I see early in the am parked at the trail head.

He said it is too early for snakes. Told him about the guy who comes and trains dogs to stay away from them.

Said he had heard good things about him. Also said most dogs will stay away or that they have a vacine but it only helps a little...there will still be problems with muscles, etc.

not sure how creditable this guy is, yet.

Learned about another trail to take that is easy to be on once you get on it. The problem is you have to cross the wash to get on it...which means climbing down into the wash and then climbing up the incline to the trail. That in itself wears me out big time and it is rare I can do this.

But, when I am having a stronger day it is worth giving it a try.

Over did it this am with the talking. But, Rosie got a good work out as she played with the guys dog. They both had a fun time of it.

Did the 10 min loop this am....Wed. AM.

RE: yard sale....yep...I wasn't sure what to call it myself.

What a job. Praying you get the help you need before, after and during.

The head is hurting this am. Hoping with a couple of hours of quiet time it will be OK.

The guy I ran into also said he broke his neck awhile back.

And that he has only missed 23 days in 3 years of being on the trail. Pretty cool.

Couldn't tell ya what he looked like. That part of the brain hasn't recovered yet. If I run into him without his dog, I will be at a lost of who he is or where I know him from.

I will recognize the dog though. A very small queensland healer named Blue.

Why does it feel like the brain is swelling when I use it to much for walking or talking or processing?

Don, hope you figure out how to help your feet. Dem feet or very important.

Don, regarding the funds for Rosie snake training. I think that is going to work out. Just need to answer an email I got the other day from a friend.

Kam,

You make me laugh. That's quite a booby prize. Thank you. [Smile] Sadly, it will probably be needed.

Still trying to hang in there. So much positive from where I first started, so just keep plugging away. I know I'm getting better all the time.

Just still not sure why I'm feeling all these crazy things in my legs. I sure will be glad when I'm on this darn Levaquin, although I DO know that it is helping every other aspect and I'm feeling better and better, so try to take it easy on my legs for now and just hope.

So doing only about 1/4 of a mile a day now to ease up off the legs and a slower pace. Will see if that helps settle it down since I really do want to get the three months of this med under my belt.

Cathy

Pacing yourself each day sounds like a good idea Cathy.

I have been doing the same...but it doesn't stop me from waking up each morning and hoping today will be the day I can have a good walk.

Glad I am able to do a little walk.

Thursday am...5 or 10 min on the golf course.

Stayed in the sun today. Baby it is cold outside. Grass was frozen at golf course. Wind was blowing.

Wasn't prepared for the cold this am. Ice on the cars too. So confusing.

Wanted to add instead of walking yesterday evening, I cleaned the dash in the car and put amoral on it.

Went out to area I usually walk and let Rosie kick up her heels as I cleaned. She kept me in site as she played.

I have had the car a year now. First time I have been able to put amoral on the dash. It cleans up nicely.

Hoping to be able to do inside of the doors on the back seat and wash windows inside and a few other things...perhaps today.....when it warms up.

Could be why I am hurting so much this am too. All that multi movment. Takes more out of me than straight walking for 10 min.

slept from 10 am to 1 pm thursday...i think the multi movement of being able to clean the dash did me in and I needed the rest. Very unusual for me to sleep during the day.

Friday am, instead of walking cleaned the car windows of the car. Wow. First time I have had clean windows in a year. Very nice. Resting now.

Ok Let me re think this...5 X 4 equals 20 Right?

Remember discalula is part of my lyme problems

So, darn....lost it...

But, thinking perhaps we are at our 6 month?

Yes. 6 X 4 equals 24 Right? Sheesh

I know 1 plus 1 equals 3..you can't fool me there. HA!

Glad you are feeling the improvement Lou.

I know I have heard from "normal" people that it has taken them a long time before they started noticing a difference but once they did they were glad they stuck with it.

It was worth it.

Friday pm....10 min loop....took a little longer tonight. Going to try and hydrate. Not sure what is going on. Very low functioning. But, glad I was able to do the walk. Wasnt' sure when I sat out to do it.

Had Rosie vest on just in case I needed her help back to the car. She helped me get from the trail to the car as it was parked across the way.

Vision is also a problem lately.....again.

Kam,

We are quite the pair. I'm sorry you are struggling. I"m back to jerking all over the place. I'm told it looks like someone with M.S. by friends.

Yesterday my daughter told me I should get a handicapped sticker and all I could do was cry. I know she was just trying to help and heck, maybe she is right, but it still broke my heart because I've really been doing SOOOOOO much better.

But jerking around like this, trembling, going numb....after 17 months of treatment for lyme, bart and babs.....I don't know....I guess you fall harder the better you THINK you are getting.

So I'm wondering if anyone wants to come to my pity pot party and help me decorate this pity pot in some really beautiful spring colors. May as well make it look nice if I'm going to keep using it. Ugh.

Cathy

Yep. It is a tough one having your health go south right after you had a good stretch.

Those times are the most difficult for me.

So, yes....let's decorate that pitty party pot.

Searching for a pic of a pot to decorate....be back if I find one.

Oops. I think my computer has a lyme brain search engine....

Thanks to all for still thinking about me. I need to read this thread REGULARLY again !!

Guess what? April 12 is Start Walking Day [or something like that]!!

So.... IF I am to accomplish my RE-beginning it will have to be indoors!

It's supposed to be a high of 42 tomorrow and windy. I still have to protect my sinuses. I think they are better, but not healed.

[doc said they are a better color ... not red as before]

The stomach issues? Not good today at all.

So... if I can talk hubby into letting me walk in the music bldg at his workplace, I can begin my walking again tomorrow.

Otherwise I'll get started next week when spring is supposed to come back!!

It may even snow tomorrow....and it was 70 degrees yesterday. [loco]

Good job, everyone!!! [hi]
