A friend of ours sent us this movie because it reminded him of us (I think it was made in 1995 or 1996). It stars Meryl Streep as a mom looking for help for her young son who has epilepsy.
He gets progressively worse while on powerful drugs and is facing brain surgery because of increasing grand mal seizures.
While doing research at the library, the mother finds information about a ketogenic diet. This specific high fat diet helped stop seizures in other epileptics.
This movie shows the family's struggle with health, finances, ducks, etc. - a real tear jerker! I'm sure many of us can identify with it.
At least they had a diagnosis of what was wrong with their child!!

YES, my son was struggling with severe epilepsy at the time the movie came out. It made me sob, it was like watching our lives on the screen.
Thankfully that has resolved, though now I look back and think......hmmm, congenital Lyme????
