~ Update ~

* A Martin Scorsese film
The Master! [Cool]

* Starring Alec Baldwin

* Filming location: New Jersey

* Post production / Awaiting release

* Synopsis:
Two families fall apart when precarious
relationships, real estate problems and Lyme
disease converge in suburban Long Island in
the late 70s.

* Genre: drama, comedy

* Film set to be released January 2009

* NOTES:
The Martini brothers will direct off a script they co-wrote.

"It's a very personal story, and it's something I've been trying to get made for five years," said Derick Martini, who developed Lymelife under Robert Redford at the 2001 Sundance Filmmakers Lab. "I've done a lot in the meantime, but (the story) has always nagged at me. It's a terrific feeling to finally see it through to its fruition."

Baldwin, like the Martinis, is a native of Long Island and has been attached to the project for years.

"I didn't know him at the time, but when I wrote it, I had his voice in mind," Derick Martini said. "He's hung in there through the ups and downs of funding."

The story follows two families who crumble under the pressures of life while an outbreak of Lyme disease hits the heart of suburbia

Lymelife is an intense family drama. Alec Baldwin plays Mickey Bartlett, a hardworking family man who moves his clan to a better neighborhood to live the good life. As his marriage begins to fall apart, the family unit starts to feel the pressure and disintegrate.

They changed information on screen? Do you mean from what 2 (and more) notorious posters posted on a movie making site? [dizzy]

Very exciting!

Do we know when they'll start filming so we can anticipate the film's release?

This, the Daryl Hall Interview, Under Our Skin and the Psychology Today article makes me feel like things are really evoloving.

Baby steps, I know...but still! [Big Grin]

BettyG,

I never found that old site we'd posted on. Oh well.

Clarissa,

Filming was in New Jersey and that's finished. What's the term? Is it, "That's a wrap"? Well, it's a wrap!

On a previous post in Medical about this movie many were scared Martin Scorsese could leave us in the dust.

It's not publicly known how much pertinent Lyme information will be given. It's not a film about Lyme. It's about relationships and coming of age.

However, Lyme is part of the title and Martin Scorsese is a sensitive movie maker. I doubt he'll bash us. I see it as Lyme entering the main stream and with stars to draw crowds.

I'm going with that. Ya, I agree: very exciting! [Cool]
