Hey sweetie pie... sorry to hear about losing your emails. I just went through that as you know.
If you will post your email address, perhaps folks can email you that don't have it?
Or do ya just want folks who already have it to respond?

You wrote: I dont even know how to find out what version it is!!??Boy am "I" dumb
NO, you are not dumb just because you don't know where to look for the version info. I know it can feel that way sometimes when dealing with computer issues but this is just part of learning.
You can find out what version of IE you have by going to the help menu item at the top of the window, last item is "About Internet Explorer", click on it and a window will come up. The version is listed there, the first thing.
Just a note - I would try to download once again before installing a new version but first make sure you have enough disk space. I say this because I think from past discussions that you might be low.
The reason I say try again first is because it could have been a lost connection or something else that is just a one time glitch and won't happen again.
You wrote: Would I have to unload my IE before mozilla firefox will load??
No, not to my knowledge. I have several browsers loaded on my system, including both IE and firefox.
Let me know how it goes. Terry *************************

SEEMS like it is worse NOW!!
I boot my puter, dont touch it, get an error message on it and says mozilla has to close due to error,,,send or dont send report!!??
My window stays small too still.
It even opens the MAIN window small but clicking around, reuping page, seek new page on expanded window and it opens large,,,BUT I click on a link,,,NO way to get it enlarged!!
I cant right click a link, puter says doink and does nothing,,,guess pop up blocker blocks that somehow. Have to left click a link then select an option of which I always USED to select 'open in new window',,then when I was done I could cancel out of that and return automaticly to first window!!
IF I leave the window small it is actually BIGGER than if I expand it!! then it gets even smaller in corner with white background all around it.(stupid I know) but window expands,,,writing doesnt!!)
PLUS now I went to lyme chat site and couldnt type third line,,,cause the puter got sucked life out of it. Somewhere got NEW format there and it doesnt work for me any more,,,always did
Every time I figure something out they change the question!!Yikes I am falling further in the hole of knowledge!!hopeless--just don-- --------------------
Another problem I just noticed,I used one window for searching and reading,,,LIKE Lymenet. One window for e-mail,,, AND when I have my e-mail window viewed,I cant pop over to other page like I used to by clicking on the bottom.
It stays behind the e-mail page so I HAVE to minimize the page of e-mail??
Never USED to be that way,,,just another strange symptom!! ANY suggestions for any of this, plus that darn frustraing little window that wont expand?? asks--just don-- -------------------- just don ************************

posted 20-04-2008 11:57 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry I didn't keep checking back but when you didn't come back, I figured you had solved the problem.
Last time I was here, you were unable to use IE to download a new version of firefox. From the sound of it, you downloaded a new version of firefox and installed it??
A few things I would recommend. Run some spyware software like AVG antispyware (not the anti-virus). It does not automatically run periodically like anti-virus software. You have to run it manually if you want to check your computer for spyware.
AVG Anti-Spyware Free Edition
You may also need to re-install your video driver.
If none of this fixes the problems, I would suggest that you uninstall the browser, then install it again so that you are not installing on top of a browser that is already installed.
Hope that makes sense.
Let me know how it works out.

posted 05-03-2008 07:07 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will have to get rid of the program. Blocking pop-ups won't do much good since it sounds like it has installed something on your computer. I had this happen a number of years ago. I had to manually remove the program.
Can you please get the info from the pop-up so that we can identify the program and look for a solution? Write the info in here from the message that you get via the pop-up window. We want to know the company that is selling this program. Don't go to their website though. Don't click on anything in the window.

posted 07-03-2008 10:39 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi there
Yeah, that's a bad one.
I hope you have an up to date anti-virus running on your PC.
If not, download your updates and then run a virus scan on your PC.
If it's still there, you will have to run an anti-Trojan program. I use A anti-Trojan free edition.
A2 Download
Just click on that link and the download should start, if it does not you may have to click on an allow to download it.
I download these things to my desktop but put it wherever you are used to putting downloads.
So, once it's downloaded click the file you just downloaded and start the install.
After it's installed you will have to check for updates and I think it asks you that when you start the program.
After all that run the program and choose deep scan. Make sure everything else is closed, like your browser, email and any kind of instant messenger you may have set up.
If it finds anything it will list them and just put a check mark next to the bad files and choose delete. Then re-start and see if you're good to go, if not, post back here and we'll go from there.

posted 07-03-2008 03:57 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey MusicMan, Didn't know you were a computer person too! I don't know where Don went but feel free to take over. I haven't used the newer op systems because I need the server that comes with windows 2000 pro for web programming so perhaps you are better equipped to deal with the new op systems that people are using now anyway.
It's been awhile since I've had to deal with this kind of problem but before they sold the program I used to use hijackthis! I figured I'd have to find another similar program when the time came so I'll check out your program and see how it works.
In the past, if my regular virus program couldn't handle something, I'd get something to identify the problem and look for solutions from some of the forums that used hijackthis or one of the other programs.
If I can help at some point, please feel free to PM me.

Yep, I've been around PC'S for a long time now but with the Lyme I'm not here that much.
I use the A2 just for Trojans and AVG Free Edition for my anti-virus.
I use XP Pro but will be switching to Vista soon because a lot of the people I help have Vista now!
So just look at me as a safety net because of my health, not to mention when I feel good I'm usually recording music.

I can't be of much help there because I use IE 6.0 Pro.
But I'm guessing there is an option you have hit by mistake. Look at the top of your browser and see if there is anything that says tool bar options, something like that.
You could also just do a search for missing tool bar and the name of the browser you are using.
And before I forget? You really should run your anti-virus and that Trojan program I listed, just to make sure you have no extra problems.

posted 12-03-2008 04:03 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice try Betty but I don't think that will fix it. It probably has to do with a setting that is associated with the menu item "open link in new window".
Do you have the latest version of firefox? I'm not sure what version that would be for your op sys but for me it is 1.0.7. You can see what version you have by going to the menuitem "Help" Click on "About Mozilla Firefox" OR you could just try to upgrade what you have and if you have the latest version it will let you know.
I can't seem to duplicate your problem so don't know for sure what will fix it.
You could try a few things although I have my doubts that they will fix the problem. It's worth a try though.
Click on "Tools" Click on "Options" A box will come up click on "Web Features" in the left hand column Click on "Advanced" A little box comes up Make sure there is a check mark beside "Move or resize existing window"
You may have an extenstion installed that is causing the problem. You could uninstall and then re-install any extensions - something that is suggested in some of the info I've read. Click on "Tools" Click on "Extensions" A box comes up that allows you to select each extension and uninstall. You will want to make sure that you know where to go to replace them.
Before re-installing, see if you can now access the links correctly.
A few other things to try - reset to default settings. This will mean that you will lose any of your custom settings but it might fix the problem. Short of that, I'd uninstall the program, delete everything off the hard drive and re-install. That could cause some problems but it might fix the problem. Would mean re-installing any extensions, plug-ins etc..
Sorry but I don't know much about this browser since I only use it to test my website to make sure my website works with it. I'll keep my eye open for any info about this problem and let you know if I find something.
Hopefully someone will come along with an answer.

Not sure I can? I don't fool with any PM stuff because I can't "get it" and don't have time to respond either if I did.
Plus, if I have something to say... I usually just say it on the board.
But do tell... is there a way?
The only people I see standing are in the .. or near the house.
When I click on them.. this is what pops up...
"FYI
Because you are preventing people from sending private messages to you, you may not send private messages to others."
Actually the note has a bit of a bad attitiude if I may say so... but that is what I get.
Am I missing something? Keep in mind I don't do or want to do PMs or even that little annoying chat dude that I almost strangled for bothering me years ago.
