I pushed myself to get out tonight. My mom's friend was doing a comedy show. Let me tell you , i had to force myself out into the humidity, but once I got going I was good.

The club was smokefree, and cool, and i brought my seat cushion. I was all set. My mom's friend was about 6th person on, and my attention was growing short, but he was really funny. Laughing can be so healing in some ways.

I was sitting there kinda feeling not so normal as people all around us ordered their drinks and food(all of which i couldnt eat) , so there I sat determined to stick it out.

So, the reason for my post is the next guy on stage, starts telling a story of IBS, and dating, and spending time in the bathroom etc. All very funny! I have interstitial cystitis, so this is oh so familar.

I wasnt sure if this guy was for real about the IBS, but at the end he said that he indeed does have it...and even wrote a book about it.

Time didnt permit me to chat up this guy, and I was kinda in my awkward lyme induced oddness that i have now since im not used to social events. So, i hung back and didnt say anything. I googled him when i got home and found he is a huge advocate for IBS.

Anyway, so I got out for a bit tonite and thru some odd luck or whatever found out Im not the only one out there dealing with some health issue.

I guess im posting this to give newbies and others hope that they too will be out there again living. Back in 05, and even 06, I was way too sick to even think I would ever get out again.

Im not saying i was out at 100% of health, but i was out! I still have a long way to go.

Somehow my determination is getting me my life back and I will not give up until i have it all back!

Glad to hear you had a good time.

But what is IBS?

I get so lost in the acronym forest that surrounds us all - could blame it on Lyme, but I think it is a normal complaint.

Hope you are still feeling better.

p.s. The brain just clicked in here - is it Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Some people get relief by eating coconut macaroons - 2 per day. See www.people'spharmacy.com

oh, coconut maccaroons. not sure of all the ingrediants, eggwhites? i think they are OK for us to eat. the sugar is bad. i was into healthfoods long before i got extremely ill.

sugar and white flour are evil. but maybe you can substitute ingrediants. spelt flour? or rice flour? and there is something called "steavia" from the health food store that is many times sweeter than sugar, and is derived from of all things onion and tomato.

just avoid the greenish variety of powdered stevia as it has a very bitter after taste.
